The concept of internships doesn't really exist here in the same way that it does in Europe or USA. Ideally, you would be set up with a company with a proper program in place which will allow you to maximize your experience and exposure. Most places in UAE (not all) who are willing to take on an "intern" are just seeing it as free labor and will not provide you with a lot of relevant work experience. You're better off doing volunteer work where you can actually give back. Or they have a national programme where they recruit Emiratis All of ours have to be Bi-lingual

Not sure exactly but we did have some interns at my last job and they were either females on their father's visa or studying at local unis. I get the impression it's something of a grey area though, it might be worth approaching the HR department of your target companies and asking if your son can do 'work experience' (obviously unpaid) on a visit visa and seeing what their stance is. As for getting internships, I think you might just have to write a very enthusiastic and professional cover letter, and sent it along with your resume to companies which fit your bill, and then follow up with a call or email in a couple of weeks if you don't hear anything. If you are prepared to do it unpaid (as I think finding a paid opportunity here would be very lucky), persevere. As a start though it might help to network or get some assistance from family or friends as it's easier to get a break here when you know someone personally. It isn't something you see advertised a lot unless it is with an international organisation like the UN agencies who have established intern programmes. Good luck.

Hi, I am also trying to get an internship here whether paid or unpaid. I am 20, not studying anywhere right now but as far as I have looked into internships they want students who are studying in UAE. I am trying since 8 months to get one because I dont have any experience to get a job, so I was thinking to get an internship to get some experience, but no so far. If you can help or guide me how to get one. P.S. I am a resident here.

Hi, My son of about 19 years now studies in Canada and I would like him to stay with us during the summer term break that lasts for about 4 months. He wants to get into an unpaid internship with a suitable company here. The question is: is it good eenough to get him here on visitor's visa OR I should try and get hima residence visa? The problem in getting the residence visa is that DNRD doesn't approve of a residence visa to children studying overseas and who are aged 18 years and above. My question is posed because none of the companies are wanting to sponsor any internship so far as co visa is concerned. They don't want to even go thru the mission visa method. I am completely lost. What's the best method? Please suggest / guide me. Thanks.
