just be careful. I tried getting a keratine treatment done and it fully damaged my hair. I would recommend you pay full price instead of buying any vouchers from any of the sites. My personal favorite is Juice Salon and Spa in mankhool my colleague recommended. Must say never sorry for going there. Slightly steep but worth it. I have also heard Amro is a good salon never been there though. I hope you are not bald yet :D There are alot of deals going online and hard to not to fall for it. Just incase ... Where did you get it done? which salon i mean ... edited by rose717 on 02/09/2013

I ended up going to Beauty Plus and I am SO HAPPY with my results. I could kiss them, seriously. It took around seven hours, although I would have gladly sat in that chair all day if I had to. The poor girl had back pain by the time she was done. I waited three days, washed it, and [i'>bam[/i'>. Perfection. It's seriously almost too good to be true. My hair is smooth, shiny and straight, whereas before it was totally dry and afro-ish. I've tried a couple other salons here and they failed miserably. It's been said already, but I want to reiterate: don't be put off by the salon's appearance. It's very small and quaint but all the high-end and decadent salons I've been to have, to put it bluntly, sucked. It goes to show you can't judge a book by its cover. Language barrier aside, the ladies are very nice and one has an excellent singing voice. I'm so, so, so, so, so happy! I'm definitely going to come back once my roots grow out. Thank you to everybody who recommended it. Can you tell me how much you paid for the keratin treatment? What's the length of your hair?

I don't like to bad mouth up and coming salons such as Beauty Plus but the treatment I had was so bad I feel I need to get it off my chest. I thought the offers at this pinkladydeals was true good to be true but if people are lovely and willing to please, I thought I will give it a go. The lady I made the appointment with on the telephone was lovely and said to call when I am at the satwa bus station to get directions. Well when I arrived there, I called two numbers I had for the salon and both were switched off! I eventually found the place and the door was locked. But someone opened the door and they were surprised to see me. They had no knowledge of my appointment and certainly no knowledge of the offer I bought (the Moroccan bath offer). Yes I should have known better than to go for this as there were so many services for so little money. After arguing amongst themselves in their language one of them said "give me the money and we will do your service". I am OK with not having nice surroundings but the people should be nice and kind. The Moroccan bath was just leaving me in the room where there is only enough place to sit with the steamer on. She then came and scrubbed me down- I did not feel pampered- Just felt as though I was being cleaned! The hot oil, shoulder massage and blow dry were just tick boxes- just to say they have done the service. They forgot about the facial until I mentioned it and they asked "you want it". I did enjoy the facial though. I felt sorry for the two ladies as it was a lot of services for only 85AED. I left a small tip even though I was unhappy as even one of the services may have cost me that much in another salon. However the person making up these offers should advise the people at the salon that if they give a great service, the customer will come back even when the offer is not there. Needless to say I do accept it is my fault as I should have realised that having all these services for so little money would be just what it sounds like - cheap and nasty. Maybe they are good for hair services. However, this salon made me feel so bad and not pampered or rejuvenated, and I would not recommend anyone to go there for anything other than getting your hair done. Sorry to hear about your experience. I have been a regular customer since I came to UAE (almost 5 months and on tight budget) and have tried almost all of their services. Prices are extremely low and quality is not bad. I did have full body waxing with bikini in 150 AED, girls are so speedy and good that I finish whole session in one hour. Facials are reasonable as well. Morrocan bath isn't bad either. Drawback is Staff girls barely understand English. Although the manager is a wonderful lady who makes sure everyone is happy when they leave. May be its just bad luck or bad day :D edited by rose717 on 20/08/2013

It's short (chin length), not thick, but there is A LOT of it! It's fine, though...nothing works for everyone, right?? It was just a lot more than I expected to pay at the time. They were still absolutely lovely there!

We actually found it without a problem yesterday, which was a pleasant surprise! The ladies were absolutely lovely. However, we decided against the treatment -- she quoted me 1,000 AED instead of the original 200 AED, so we'll just stick with the Afro salons and the relaxers. Thanks for the information, though! Wow. 1000 AED?? are You serious? thats a lot of money. edited by rose717 on 13/08/2013

Hi! I have very thick, curly hair that I want to get chemically straightened, but I can't seem to find a salon here that offers the right treatment for it. I've tried keratine before and it DOES NOT WORK for my hair type. I know they offer it everywhere but I'm looking for something a lot stronger and a little more permanent.I'd like to do the Japanese straightening, since I've done that before succesfully, but as I'm really desperate, I'd appreciate any suggestions for good women's salons in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. I went to one of the hair salons in the Dubai Mall and they had Loreal straightening. I've looked it up but I can't find much about it. I'm keepin that as a last resort but I'd really like to ask around first. Try an Afro hair salon - they will have products for afro n mixed hair.

yeah you'll love it... they really are a sweet bunch so really ready to please... they've only been open for a few months and hence desperate to grow business and hence the extra love! :) enjoy it... and hopefully it will last even when they're brimming with customers... like i mentioned... don't be to set back by the interiors of the salon... its small and claustrophobic BUT at the end of the day the treatments they offer for hair are good and cost effective... :) don't forget... take a good book (as the salon doesn't have many magazine subscriptions yet!)

abby_n_christina & rose717, just want to thank you for your recommendation -- I called Beauty Plus Salon to see about a consultation for rebonding, and the woman I spoke with was so helpful and informative, and this was just over phone (and then later text). I look forward to going next week and having my consultation and hopefully the service! It's so rare to receive such excellent customer service over the phone in Dubai!

hi FairyDust... that's what i thought too... but then I did some digging and asking around and here's the justification... - this salon is very small (low overheads, in a cheap 1 bedroom apartment in satwa) and hence doesn't have to compete with the rentals of salons, in, for example, Jumeirah/new Dubai - the Schwarzkopf straightening product itself only costs around AED 100 if you were to buy it retail and technically shoulder length hair will only use up 1 tube... the Shiseido product itself costs around AED 300 so naturally by the time it reaches a salon it will be upped in price (and justify the 1600 for shoulder length hair) - most salons charge by the amount of time invested in by the therapists into one particular client... and rebonding is a very longgggg process (around 4-6 hours depending on hair length) and is often why most salons charge a lot for it... this particular salon has just got a new manager who is keen on really marketing the place and hence has slashed rates (the full body waxing for example, if only 79dhs) whereas the cheapest I have been able to source in dubai so far has been 100dhs!! Any sort of chemical treatment is damaging for your hair... and hence every salon (even this one) recommends intense conditioning and aftertreatment care for your hair... in fact you're not even supposed to do any other treatments (such as colouring, hjighlighting etc) for at least four months after this treatment... OP... do your initial research... go online and see the effects of how straight (or not) your hair will look after different types of treatments... and then first decide on what you feel you want for your hair... I've had friends rebonding their hair for years now (almost ten in one case) and since they're mostly south asian and have very voluminous curly non coloured virgin hair the results have been good for them and they have not suffered hair loss or breaking... but the therapist should be able to give you an accurate judgement of what effect the treatment will have on your hair... she showed me at least 50-60 rebonding treatments she did on the very same chair over the past few months...

200 Dhs for rebonding? You know that old saying 'if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is'. There's no way that would even cover the cost of the products used. I've done both Rebonding - using Shiseido products - takes about 5 hours - leaves the hair in amazing condition. About 1,600 Dhs for shoulder length hair. Keratin - about 3 hours - 1,400 Dhs ish for shoulder length hair. The bonus of rebonding is that it's permanent and you only need to have it done once every 4-6 months depending on hair growth, but it will damage your hair over time. Personally I'm sticking with Keratin for now, as I like that my hair still have volume and waves - my hair is wavy/curly/frizzy - it really puts great condition back into my hair, is much more manageable and easier to straighten using tongs.

LuLee... I'm sure they do all sorts of treatments there but it really requires you to decide the final look you want to achieve... permanent chemical straightening leaves the hair rod straight and the straightened hair will not frizz or curl again... your roots however will be your natural hair and hence once the regrowth starts you will need to go in for a root touch up... if your hair is very frizzy you might need to go as soon as your regrowth is a couple of inches as then it will start to look funny as frizzy at the root and then rod straight down... the keratin treatment is a conditioning treatment and not straightening... so it will just soften your hair and give it some conditioning as opposed to straightening it out... for people with frizzy and wavy hair this often appears more straight as when the frizz is removed the hair tends to feel more tamed... but if you have curly hair the keratin effect will not result in even appearing remotely straight... regular oiling and conditioning of hair will help keep the hair strong... as overly chemically treating your hair can result in damages all the best in your decision... and go to a couple of hairdressers for a consult before you decide... and also keep in mind the time factor... chemical straightening (rebonding) takes about 4hrs just for shoulder length hair... so take a good book and a lot of patience along with you! lolz.... I like that suggestion :P

Do they offer keratin treatments? I got a quote at Pastels in JBR for 3000 dirhams. My hair is long, thick, frizzy curly, you name it I got it. I just can't afford that. I'm not sure if I want to rebond my hair. Does it damage the hair? Is it permanent? How often do you go for retouching? Hi Lulee I think they are doing Hair Keratin also. If you would like to check pinkladydeals.com or you can call and confirm. When I had my services done they were doing all hair treatments like hair botox, keratin rebonding & curls also. You can call and check. About harm to hair, I had rebonding couple of years back ( and also my friends) and didn't face any problem. As far as your hair is healthy there should be no issue. Straightening stays in your hair upto a year.Root touch up is done once your new hair growth comes, normally after 6-7 months. Good luck finding the right place and let us know where Would you go :D edited by rose717 on 04/08/2013

i second this Beauty Plus salon in Satwa... they are offering rebonding (that's the type of chemical straightening you're looking for) deals for AED 200 (if you have shoulder length hair)... i just got it done... had a hair wash and the hair is still straight and glossy... the deals are available pinkladydeals the slaon is small and dingy but the hair therapist there (forgot her name) is quite knowledgeable and she will tell you straight out what kind of realistic results to obtain... if you're hair is already coloured then you will need to apply some sort of protective cream to it or undergo some conditioning treatments... any way they will discuss all this with you when you visit prior to even touching your hair... i suggest visiting them first, taking the consultation and then deciding on whether you want to buy the deal or not (in fact you can even get a good deal at the salon itself without having to buy the voucher online)... the product they use is Schwarzkopf (i'm sure i've spelt that wrong... but you've probably heard of the brand)... she will also show you the effects of rebonding on various textures/types/lengths of hair so that you get an idea...
