Hi,

I am asking this question on behalf of a friend. She is looking for a school in Dubai which has a majority of Arab students as her husband is Arab and he wants their child to have a good mix of Arab as well as non-Arab friends. Does anyone know of any? They need it to be either a UK or IB school and obviously a "good" school with good facilities etc.

Thanks!

Mawakeb school has a healthy mix, its majority expat arab (lebanese...) as the management is lebanese. they focus a lot of extracurrciular activities as well.

Jumeira Baccalaureate School (favored by my family, which sounds similar to your friend's family) Raffles West Campus in Umm Suqueim (my neighbors send their kids there) Al Mawakeb in Barsha (I wouldn't send my kids to Choueifat, it is no longer the school of choice for Arab families as it was 15 yrs ago, and it is neither British nor IB curriculum) Uptown school in Mirdif has a large Arab student body. My nieces and nephews attend it.

I'll tell her to look at schools in the mirdiff area then. I've heard school of research science isn't good? Sheikhandbake- from my understanding there are schools which have a small population of Arabs. For example, Horizon school which I've applied to seems to have much more British/European families & very little Arabs. But I've never visited any of the schools so I can't really judge...

Al Mawakeb in Al Barsha and Chouifat , both favoured by Arab families.

That would be most of them, no? Repton has a lot of Arab students, Kings, DIA, JPS, all the Mirdiff schools. if you look at the population statistics, Brits are a small minority of people in Dubai, contrary to popular belief. There are about as many Jordanians as there are Brits.
