I go to Dr Mazin Aljabiri at the Mediclinic Dubai Mall, he is brilliant. He is not a pediatric doctor but is very knowledgeable on all things colon and intestine based. I have had inflammation and Colitis for years with cramps and bloating constantly. The doctors in the UK couldn't really do anything about it but he did all the necessary checks and biopsies and prescribed specific probiotics, anti inflammatory and has kept a check on me and everything is clearing up nicely.

Hi! My son has the same problems for many years. After more than 3 years of complaining about stomach ache, after few doctors and some test that they made... no results. There was some good weeks after probiotics and nexium, but after a while ache came back. There was no parasits, no allergies, no celiac.... so I had enought and went to al zahra hospital to Dr Dardari and she took the problem really seriously. So she made all test again, and again everything was negative. But there was sign of inflammation. Then she ask me to do test for intolerance. They check for more than 100 kinds of food. And finally we got results. He is intolerant on kazein ( cow milk), hazelnuts, peas and goat milk. Now he is on a strict diet for 3 weeks. It is much better, but it takes time- it can take 1-3 months for best results. It's dificullt even for me, because I need to read every declaration on the food box, I need to cook and bake seperately... It would be easier if he would be lactose intolerante, because there is so many lacto free product, but there is no such thing for kasein free product. Be awere allergies and food intolerance is not the same. iF there is a stomach problems, there is more definitely intolerance than allergies. Allergies test is also cheaper, intolerance test cost us more than 4000 aed. But it was worth!

I appreciate this is an early post but MKZ if you read this do you mind telling me what your child was diagnosed with? I am having hte same situation but not getting any answers, my dd is quite ill and looks like her little sister has the same. She's been diagnosed with chronic enteritis and something in the bowel but they don't know whats caused and antibiotics not worked. We are seeing DR Rolef. Thanks so much

Unfortunately I can't help with your initial question, but I can provide some info on the paediatric gastroenterologist docs in Dubai as I was recently researching this for my daughter who went through a phase of intense stomach pain (literally rolling around on the floor holding her tummy) and vomiting for about a 2 week period. I don't think there are that many options, but here are the ones we found: - Dr. Naresh Sharma - Dubai Mall Mediclinic - Dr. Ejaz Waseem - Northwest Clinic - Dr. Yasser Ahmed Negm - Al Zahra Hospital Dubai I ended up taking my daughter to see Dr. Sharma, he was okay, but not the warmest of doctors but he did some tests. My daughter's problem ended up going away on its own so it was probably a virus, if it recurs I would probably try Dr. Waseem.

Have you done allergy tests on her? She might be gluten intolerant or intolerant to something that gives that effect. A lot of people who cant stomach gluten have a bulbous stomach after eating bread/pasta or anything with gluten in it and when they cut it out of their diets their stomach swelling goes down. Go see Dr. Loubser at Infinity clinic here in Dubai (Jumeira). He specializes in immunology and allergies and is a brilliant pediatrician too. Book in advance as he is very popular and difficult to get an appointment with. edited by Appletiser on 18/03/2015

Thank you both for your replies. MKZ your story pretty much echoes mine, she had the celiac blood test a few months ago, the blood test was particularly traumatic as she is so skinny and small and they just couldn't get any blood, the nurses took a long time and she was really distressed. Thankfully the result was negative. She had Salmonella poisoning when she was 2 and a half which was very serious at the time and she lost a lot of weight, maybe thats connected too. Either way I think we will bring her down to Dubai, please could you advise on which gastroenteroligist you went to? Thanks again

My DS tummy was the same at that age, now at 5.5 his tummy is completely flat and his rips show As for eating veggies and fruits, did you try smoothies? DS is fine with some cooked veggies in stews but he will not touch any raw veggies or whole fruits. I give him smoothies and I add flaxseeds, greens and 1-2 low GI fruits

My 4 year old daughter still has the sticking out 'toddler tummy', I am concerned that the other children we know of a similar age don't have this. It definitely sticks out more after eating and is very hard to touch. The school nurse says it is gas, I have taken her to a Paediatrician here in Al Ain but she just sort of dismissed it as nothing. Has anyone else experience of this? She completely refuses fruit and vegetables. I am not sure if this is connected. Any advice appreciated
