Has anybody used AAA for their vehicle maintenance? DH's colleague is recommending we take the car their as it will be much cheaper than Al Tayer but i'm nervous that with such a complicated car it should be dealt with by the pro's. Rather strangely AAA is booked out till Saturday and Al Tayer can take it tomorrow? Any feedback would be great.

They get booked a long time in advance because they are good. ;) We took our (out of warranty) cars there for four years and were always very happy.

Yes they will do a vehicle inspection. Did one on a car that we were selling but can't remember how much they charged as the buyer paid.

Does AAA do pre-purchase inspections? I am thinking about buying a used vehicle and I would like it to be checked out before I purchase it. Thanks. I think they would do this, give them a call!

Yup another AAA fan here, been taking my vehicles to them for the past 8 years, both my Pajero and Ford Edge and to both outlets, the one in Rashidiya and Al Quoz - always fab service, not one complaint from me.

Range Rovers aren't particularly complicated by modern standards, and AAA has a huge amount of experience with them. They're booked out till Saturday because they're a popular and well-regarded garage who charge much more reasonable prices for labour than the dealerships will. If you're happy to pay dealership prices for servicing, though, then go ahead and use Al Tayer. Just remember that there's a very good reason why Emiratis buy Range Rovers brand-new on finance and then get rid of them before the free servicing expires.

It's difficult to recommend a garage as one person's experience will quite possibly differ from another. I can only speak from our own experience. We have been taking our cars to AAA for the last four years both for repair and servicing and haven't had any reason to complain. We don't have a R.R. so can't comment from that aspect. Quite recently one of the company vehicles was repaired there. Main dealership said it needed a new engine at a cost of 65,000, AAA repaired it for 22,500. edited by amelia on 15/01/2012

Hi Radical3, its an 05 so the warranty isn't a consideration. Jeez 40k would be hard to swallow!

It all depends on what is left on the warranty - manufacturing. My transmission went on my "Range Rover from ****" (will NEVER buy another one) 4 months before the manufacturing warranty expired, if it was out of warranty or serviced by another garage, Range Rover would not have covered it (the cost was over 40k - dhs).
