Oo these sound lush. Are speckaloos chocolate sprinkles? I guess you mix it all together and make little balls ? Do you dust them in icing sugar? Oh sorry, being lazy, i'll look up Rumballs on google. Thank you ?
No, Speckuloos are a Dutch biscuit traditionally served on St Nicholas Day - they are like a burnt butter shortbread but with fabulous Christmassy spices like cinnamon, cloves, ginger etc.. Flavours (when mixed with Marie) are subtle but go very well with rum!!!

Use Marie biscuits. They are pretty much the same taste, just thinner. I made a batch of rumballs last weekend - 1 pkt of Marie, 1 pkt Speckaloos, 1 cup of coconut, 1 tin condensed milk and about 2/3 cup of raisins that I had soaked in rum for 10 days.
Available from Spinneys.
Ooooh, I would love to know where to buy them. There isn't much I miss from Australia in the food line, apart from fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables and arrowroot biscuits for dunking. If anyone knows where to buy them, I would also like to know.
