I recommend the Atlas Spinal center in DHCC, in fact I cannot recommend them highly enough.
I can't recommend them at all. I got transfered from Dubai Bone and Joint Center (DBAJ) to them, specially to Mr. Finnegan as my Doc of DBAJ doesn't trust in Dr. Katie. Scenario began with organizing the appointment. The Arab Lady from the reception informed me that Finnegan has left for vacation (I knew after my first visit that i was a lie) but i could make a new appointment with the new doctor but he wouldnt be licensed at the moment but is already working !!!! (I assume its illegal to work without license anyway). I refused to make any appointment. Again my Doc of DBAJ convinced me to try it as the treatment would finally release me from my back pain. He insured me to talk in person to the center and check all details with Dr. Katie. Ok - 2 days later i had my first appointment at the center with Dr. Katie. She advised that nobody of DBAJ give her my details and nobody was talking to her, even when i saw my medical reports + x-rays of DBAJ in my file. x-rays, first treatment with the machine done and directly after the treatment my back pain increased. She explained that is normal and it will go after i will take a rest at home. My pain increased dramatically, i wasn't able to move properly, cried from pain. My DH called Dr. Katie and she was speechless and couldn't explain the reaction but i should continue my treatment with them. Next day the pain got lesser. Second visit at Atlas Spinal Center Dr. Katie didn't answer any of my questions regarding the my pain. Her comment were: Everybody is different, so there could be pain. Strange that she didn't inform me about that before my first treatment. Discussion continued if i would be interested to continue the treatment which is very important because of my problem with my atlas i need to sign up a contract with them for 20sessions for only 19xxx AED (it was almost 20.000 AED). I refused because first i wanted an explanation for my pain. She continued talking and talking that 10 session for 8900 AED would be ok for the moment and then we will see. I refused again. In the end the new doctor came to convince me that I MUST sign. No luck. In the end the manager Terry showed up as I'm a Dubai Resident i MUST sign and its a MUST in there regulations . I explained that first i want to get proper explanation and then i will check with my health insurance regarding the treatment costs . He almost forced me to sign the paper as otherwise i wouldn't be able to see Dr. Katie again.
I went back to DBAJ to talk to my doctor there and he explained me that with the whole thing is fishy. He transfered several patients to Atlas Spinal Center before and none of them ever had to sign a contract, all of them got treated with 2-7 sessions.
The treatment might be is successful but I will not return to Atlas Spinal Center anymore after all whats happened. Sounds for my like moneymaking rather than a honest treatment.
I recommend the Atlas Spinal center in DHCC, in fact I cannot recommend them highly enough. I suffered from 10 years of back pain following a bad fall. In the last few years I also developed quite debilitating hip pain and then in the last year leg weakness. After years of on and off unsuccessful treatment (in the long term) I went there. They diagnosed that all the problems were in fact coming from my neck, which had thrown my spine out of line resulting in spinal curvature, distorted pelvis and shortening of one leg. In the past I have been told it was many things - mostly disc degeneration. The X- rays they took of my neck and spine showed the problems clearly (funnily enough no-one had done them before - only MRI's).
Within two sessions of painless treatment most of my symptoms had eased. Now at the end of my treatment and I have no problems whatsoever. The two doctors are both from the USA - trained chiropractors and are lovely. The initial consultation involved a very detailed history, physical exam and X rays - they are very thorough. I see Dr Katie Henery, she is fantastic, warm, friendly and excellent at what she does. I initially saw the guy who set the clinic up (Dr Finnegan) but he has gone back to the US and has been replaced by a guy who is equally as nice. In fact everyone in the clinic is so warm and welcoming it is a pleasure to go there.
The clinic is on the ground floor of the Al Razi building in block E. Tel 04 451 8877
ETA - They initally said that my problem was so bad that it would be a challenge to treat, but they have cured it. It is wonderful to be pain free and able to walk properly again!

I have recently been having treatment for DDD at Al Biraa arthritis and bone clinic on Al Wasl Rd. I see Dr Waleed who I understand is not yet on holiday.
He is also unlikely to actually examine a female patient though.
Dr. Charles Jones also in Dubai Healthcare City has sorted me out and numerous fiends he really is the Guru of bad necks and bad backs and an expert on anything sports related. For anything as serious as a disc problem or sciatic nerve pain I wouldnt trust a physio you needs to see a Dr to get his opinion, he can then refer you to a physio but for something serious you need someone with experience. I wouldn't trust anyone else in Dubai , he has magical hands, and you can certainly trust what he says omething quite rare I find in Dubai.

I second Dr. Jones. He fixed DH chronic back problems.
Jose Garbe at Manchester Clinic on Beach ROad.. I couldnt recommend her enough. It might be a long wait to the appointment but if you have waited years trust me, you wont be sorry you waited just a little longer. Everyone who i have recommended her to has been very happy with the treatment.
Its like she has magical powers!! :) Call for an appt on Three Four Nine Seven Double Zero Eight.
If you are in a lot of pain ask for an emergency appointment and they will call you soon as they can.
I completely second this recommendation: I cudnt get appointment with Jose as she was busy with kids therapy but she gave me her second best's contact: Louise King... they were god send for me. I have degenerative disc, and suffered from 2 slipped disc episodes last year in April. Went to loads of docs around Dubai : u name it and probably wud have had an appointment with the doc! Finally after suffering for 4 months, got temp relief from accupunture at Dubai Herbal Medical Centre. but had a relapse and got to know about Jose... I still remember when I walked in to Manchester clinic I was ram rod stiff, and had to have help frm my husband to even take the 3 steps to the clinic...after 2 sessions, the stiffness left and after a month of the session I was back to my original active life! I still have few bad days here and there but they give you sets of simple excercise that help ur back become supple...
thanks all. Turns out it was so bad I need surgery - apparently Dr. Kassim Shunnar at AH is the God of back surgeries....I shall update after the surgery....
He did both my microdiscectomies. I had a second opinion in the UK after the first and the surgeon I saw there said if he'd done the surgery he'd have been proud of it. I can also recommend Dr Amr Sarwat at City, who did my husband's spinal surgery a few years ago. Hope it all goes well for you!

MaiTai I have a recurrent sciatic nerve problem as well and this time it's been 4 days the pain started and it is still here (less painful though) and my joints have started to be painful since a couple of months too. For another problem, I had to start taking progesteron and it looks like this treatment decreases the pain related to the joints...I have no idea why...
Hi I have a prolapsed disc which 'plays up' every 6 months (since years) - badly (extreme pain down buttock & leg - sciatic nerve) - and it's been 4 weeks since the incident and it's not better YET AGAIN - especially driving in the car cripples me.
In addition, my joints make noises (worse and worse) since years and are hurting. I went to so many dr before (only for the back, never for the joints), they give u painkillers/make u feel bad u even went there/say do some excercises.....and Physio not worked either.
What type/which dr would be good to see instead????!!!
Any recommendations???
