Hi ladies, any green thumbs out there that can help me figure out what's wrong with my once gorgeous bougainvillea tree?
I bought it from the plant souq and it was perfect, now about 2 months later, it has lost almost all it's leaves and only has a few flowers.
We have not planted it in the garden, it's still in it's original pot.
Any advice would be appreciated!

my bougainvillea also seems to be leaves only, lots of new leaves, but no flowers! It is in an apartment balcony, in a large pot, which i replanted it in..i want to move it into the sun, but a gorgeous brown pigeon type bird has built a nest inside the bougainvillea! So i dont really want to move her home :(

ours are really up and down, agree that they don't need lots and lots of water. we feed ours every few weeks or so.

I guess I was over-watering it (once a day), oops! I stopped watering it daily about 2 weeks ago but it seems to be getting worse. It's in the sun from late morning through the afternoon. I'll try the giving it some fertilizer too. Thanks for your help!

My potted bougainvilleas will only flower if fed monthly. After a couple of months, they look quite sad. Agree that that they need minimal water and can take full sun, even in summer.

It might be too late but it might recover if it gets sun for most of they day and is not allowed to dry out. Sometimes the plants are potted with peat which is not really any good for anything other than seedlings so it might be better planted in the ground. However, it might be too weak to take being re planted. Why not try a weak GOOD brand fertiliser like Phostrogen?

Okay, I don't have green fingers, but here goes: We bought a small bouganvillea that weekend that it rained in Dubai, so also about 2 months ago? Anyway, we planted it in the garden and it is coming along beautifully. We only water it sporadically, maybe once a week, as they are very hardy plants and thrive well in drought conditions. Also, they need sunlight and ours in in a spot where it gets all of the afternoon sun. So, I guess my questions are: is your tree in a spot where it gets enough sun and are you over watering it? Hope that helps!
