Hey ladies, quick question...
We have just ordered the Britax Highway 2 for DD last night on carseat.se How long did delivery take and did you get a call before the courier came through? Just don't want to risk not being home when it gets delivered as we are still on vacation on SA but anticipate to be home by the time the car seat arrives!
TIA
We have the "old" version of Britax Hi-way in our Pajero. It fits nicely however the clipping of the seatbelt IS a bit in the way to get DD in and out of the carseat but you get used to it. Im from Sweden and our roadsafety association suggests not to use the convertible ones (like two way) forward facing as they are too bulky and heavy for that kind of use. For forward facing its best to use a carseat only for forward facing like the Britax Kid plus. For DS we had a Two way until we had to change it when we were crashed into and changed into a Hi-way and I can confirm that there is more space to keep a child rearfacing longer in a Hi-way. He was lacking space in his Two way and fit much better in the Hi-way. My son was never particularly short and stayed rearfacing until he was 4½ in his hi-way and we didnt change him to forwardfacing for lack of space but other reasons. Regardless what carseat you choose, if you have two cars have a think about getting a spare set of anchor bands. They are a bit of a pest to attach and having a spare set will save you some time when it comes to moving carseat around.
Good luck!
I bought the Britax Roundabout car seat here from Babyshop and it enables you to maintain rear-facing longer than usual. My son was in rear facing position till about 2 plus years. Fit well in our Prado too
Just checked - it can stay rear facing for children weighing 5lb To 40lb.

We are not getting ours for a few months as I was given a present of a rear facing car seat that is from newborn until 13kg. It's a Maxi Cosi Citi. We are going to use this from newborn as the Britax Hi Way is not suitable on Hakan's advice until 4 months old approx. When baby grows out of Maxi Cosi we will get the Britax delivered from carseats.se. Our's is a Pajero 5 door. Is yours? x
Hi Glitzy,
We've tried sourcing rear facing seats in Dubai but they don't stock them anywhere except Just Kidding. Just Kidding only stock the Maxi Cosi Mobi, which is an excellent seat, but I was advised that it is huge and would mean the front passenger seat would be so far forward it could not be used. It's also out of stock just now.
The two options we have are the ones in the subject line. The Two Way Elite can be used front or rear facing and is an excellent seat. To get it delivered to here it would cost 320 Euros from CarSeat.se or if you are going back to the UK over Xmas, 200 pounds from InCarSafety in the UK (but you have to bring it back on the plane).
The Hi-Way 2 is a newer seat that is slightly more compact and portable than the Two Way Elite, but it is rear facing only up to 25kg (approx 4 or 4.5 years old). The Hi-Way 2 recently passed the most stringent car seat test in the world in Sweden (one of only a few car seats to have achieved this). It comes in at 350 Euros delivered or 200 pounds if brought back from the UK.
Whatever you do make sure you contact CarSeats.se and InCarSafety to check your chosen seat fits your car, as all of the rear facing seats are good, the choice is down to what fits.
Also, the final piece of advice I got was to keep your bambino in their infant seat right up to the maximum weight limit (in our case 13kg, which could potentially mean well past 12 months). Parents often (as I might have done) move children from a seat when their legs are hanging over the bottom but I'm told that if it's down to height issues it's when their head starts to get too close to the top of the back of the seat, not legs hanging out.
Hi all,
I've been researching the next car seat for my 11 month old son and have discovered, by chance, that rear facing car seats till at least 4 years of age is now the recommendation.
I've been advised by a website in the UK and one in Sweden to go for the Britax Hi-Way 2 ot Two Way Elite for my Mitsibushi Pajero 5 door.
I was just wondering if any of you have either of these seats and what your thoughts are? Could you also let me know what kind of car you drive as I know that rear facing seats don't fit all makes of cars well.
I'm just a little worried about ordering these seats without trying to fit them in our Pajero first.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Hi Angela, sorry cant offer any help but we are also looking at buying the next level carseat for DS who has outgrown his infant car seat. We would also like to keep DS rear facing as long as possible but in a seat with a forward facing option as well.I was at babyshop ibn batuta today and saw the maxicosi tobi and priori xp but both are front facing :( .They dint have any britax in stock but I will go to dubai mall tomorrow to see which britax models are available there. Would you be able to tell me how much is it costing you to get the seat down from carseat.se? That does seem to be a great option just hope its not too expensive.
Hi Gingercat, thanks for the post.
When will you be getting your Hi-Way 2? We are going home for Christmas and can order it from the UK next week to bring back, but I'd just like to be totally sure it fits the Pajero before ordering. If you are getting yours before Christmas would you mind sending me an email to let me know how it goes with the fitting?
I'm sure Hakan is correct as these are Swedish seats, but InCarSafety are quite adamant it won't fit quite as well. I would much rather have the Hi-Way 2 as it's a 2011 model and rated one the the safest car seats in Sweden.
Hi. I have also done lots of research on this subject. We are getting the Hi Way 2 from the Swedish website and also drive a Pajero. Hakan has advised us that it will fit our car. I plan to use it rear facing for the full length of time. x
Hi Green Queen - thanks very much for your reply. We've been in touch with Hakan at Carseat.se and it is Hakan who is recommending the Hi-Way 2, the only issue is that In Car Saftey in the UK (who also stock both seats) are recommending the Two Way Elite as they don't think the Hi-Way 2 will fit a Pajero well because of the seatbelt tether (the bit you clip into) being long and not inserted into the seat.
A little confused and worried when ordering something to be delivered from Sweden that might not fit our car properly.
What type of car are you putting your Hi-Way 2 into? I'm more keen on the Hi-Way 2 as it's one of the safest car seats in the world according to Swedish tests.
Hi Angela - I have just bought the High-way 2 - haven't installed it yet but did a lot of research before buying it. Go to www.carseat.se - if you email them on there, Hakan will respond to you promptly and is extremely knowledgeable about all things related to car seats. Tell him your requirements/concerns and he will recommend the correct one. We have the Axkid Kidzofix as I wanted a heavy duty car seat that is rear facing but has the option to be turned around as I wasn't sure how realistic it is to keep DD in it rear facing until she is 4-5 (although I'm hoping to!) and just bought the Hi-Way 2 which we will use for the second car and mainly for when we travel as it is compact, light weight and fits into most cars (rear facing until 25kgs). All the best!
