Not looking for top quality, just something that will last us a couple trips. Where can I find a good price on a LARGE suitcase? How much should I expect to pay, too?

(I live in New Dubai and expect you all to send me to Satwa. I'm willing to go, but need to know where exactly as I never venture that way! So, a specific store or location of some stores relative to a landmark would be helpful.)

Thanks!

There are plenty of cheap and cheerful suitcases at Dragon Mart, near International City!

Cornish Pixie, you have me thinking a trip to Ikea might be in my future. Is this the one you saw? [url=http://www.ikea.com/ae/en/catalog/products/50241144/'>link[/url'> Yes that's the one, also in dark grey if I recall!

I have had Delseys, Eminent brands suitcases for years and they are good. Just a suggestion if I may... I bought some cratridges (for sure nothing to do with suitcases) and was very surprised to see the price difference between the Carrefour in MCC and the Deira Shindagha branch. A price diff of almost Dhs 22. So, that took me to the suitcase section and yes, for sure the prices do vary between the Carrefours. So, if it helps in any way to save a few dirhams, I suggets that you visit the Shindagha branch. Happy shopping for safe travels :)

There is cheap and there is cheap. Some will do the job for a few trips but beware that some cheap ones at C4 will transfer the dye of the lining of the luggage onto your clothes which would be a major headache if you were traveling because you may not have anything to wear :-)

I have bought cheap ones in the past and after one flight it literally fell apart I invested in a Samsonite from the Outlet Mall and it is indestructible! even after many flights and 3 years of being thrown around

I saw suitcases on sale in IKEA at the weekend, they were cheap and looked good quality (but you'll only know that really after the 1st flight!).

I bought some new suitcases recently from C4 in MOE. They had 3 different sizes and I think the biggest was 300 or 400 Dhs. Anything else that I found in the other stores were almost 1000 Dhs each which I didnt want to pay. Just remembered the brand we purchased were Delsey (4 wheeled trolley cases). We have used this brand before and the old cases lasted for 4 or 5 years (using them for 2 or 3 trips per year) edited by Yorky on 19/11/2013
