Do children safety seats damage leather car seats?

My sister is visiting with her 12 month old. We'll be using a car seat but just want to be prepared and try to protect the leather seats. Any suggestions or feedback? We don't normally have kids in the car so this will be a first time experience.

Also, how do I protect the back of the front seats from baby shoe marks as I'm pretty sure the baby will inadvertently kick the seat in front.

Thanks!

I have seen pad/sheet things that go between seat and babyseat - they are for sale in Babyshop, they also protect the seats from food etc. Maybe for foot marks buy a car seat cover and put on for duration of the stay or put a blanket over the seat, or chop kid's feet off. the brand is sunshine kids. i have it n it works. has a bit that protects the seat in front too from kicks!

Thanks for the replies! I know it is amusing but my husband is fussy about the car. I'm not too bothered about spillages and the like as those can be cleaned up. I was basically concerned about denting in the seats from the car seat. I would have gone with the no shoes option but considering how difficult it is for babies to keep their shoes on, I'd rather not have my sister go through the on/off battles each time we have to get in and out of the car! I'll look into the car seat protectors in babyshop. Thanks!

We have a Maxi Cosi car seat with FamilyFix base and it hasn't damaged our leather car seats. My only suggestion for avoiding shoe marks would be to take his/her shoes off while in the car ;).

HA HA this is so funny. Kids ruin cars. projectile vomiting is a fave in cars..... Try your best. Get a waterproof car sheet (like those made for dogs) maybe from Ace or somewhere similar and hope for the best. TBH the least of your problems are the car seat, you can always place padding down, and move it around so it does not stay in the same position and try to release it at night to prevent denting.

Place a towel underneath the carseat this will protect your seat and as its only for a week there should be no lasting damage. Mothercare and babyshop sell clear plastic covers for rear of front seats to stop kick marks but if you don't want the expense then i am sure a shopping bag will work just as well stategically placed.

You cant, its called having kids, you could try putting a protective seat cover on the seats for the time they are here, other than that i have no clue, if you find out a miracle can you let me know so i can make sure my kids dont ruin the interior of my car :)
