I lock my case but only wrap if the airport I am flying from or to is very polluted/dirty or it is an airline requirement eg. Garuda out of Jakarta.

Yes I always lock my suitcases. How scary is that I guess it makes no difference if you do or do not lock your suitcases! Or is it just in Dubai airports? edited by Fr!zzyBusY on 12/10/2011 Not sure if its available at all airports globally but you could wrap the bags at home as another person suggested.

Always lock them but never wrap them.

Always. It's not what they might take out but what might get put in... I lock even going to the USA, which is a pain in the butt as my suitcase only has regular locks and they often break them to get in. I know you can get the TSA luggage straps but as I'm travelling on business we are not permitted to use non-company issued luggage. WHich is silly, because they are always telling us to lock our bags, but the repsonse when I ask what about US is "just leave it unlocked when you fly there". Of course no lock is foolproof (I know how to open a padlocked bag, without a key, and hardcase luggage without zippers is more secure but it is not theft-proof unless the hnges are recessed.

Always. I don't care if there's nothing worth stealing in it. I still lock it anyway cos I'm paranoid like that :) Ok, that was terrifying to watch. As if I wasn't paranoid enough already. Is there anyway to avoid that then like wrap the suitcase in the jaws of life or what? :( edited by ladygodiva on 10/10/2011

Always, unless it is hand luggage, which nowadays it mostly is!! I don't trust anybody, and growing up in SA you definitely lock your suitcase ;)

My husband and I always wrap our own luggage with cling film before heading off to the airport now. Cheaper! Scary stuff though.

Scary stuff. Maybe a good reason to get luggage wrapped (although I resent paying the high charges in LHR).
