Ok, here is my secret: Nail Moda salon in wafi. Not very well known, hence they usually have availability. Technicians are good but someone superb with pedicure is Jennifer. Good hygiene too. Not a chain. They use Essie, my favorite. edited by dentro on 05/12/2014

There was an article in the Daily Mail not long ago with graphic photos about women who had got infections from bad pedicures and the photos were not pretty! Some of nearly had to have toes amputated!

I don't know its only my head or its with the technicians here, they tend to cut nails from side despite the need of it. I feel I have started having ingrowns only after moving to Dubai, and sometimes these ladies cut it so badly that my nail turns blue. I m horrified with the thought of going to any such technicians. Small salon of karam and But Dubai to fancy salons in Jumeirah.....they all do same awful job. Also Hygeine is so poor, I had accidenctly witnessed a technician, who was washing, drying and packing (without even sterilizing) DESPOSIBLE nail tools, it was a famous FANCY salon. I wish I had not bumped into their pantry looking for some water to drink. I would appreciate if someone can suggest, good salon with good standard of hygiene and reasonable prices.

I kept getting ingrown toenails during and after pregnancy, and the nail technicians would remove it (after freaking out initially) but I wouldn't let the growth get too bad so they could remove it since it wasnt too severe. One time, it got so bad my toenail started turning blue, and it was horrbily painful, my usual nail technician said she couldn't remove it for me. I went to another nail place my friend recommended and the lady said she could remove it but she wasn't allowed to, I begged her because I was in such bad pain and it took about 30 minutes for her to remove, it was so bad! It hurt sooo much I had tears in my eyes throughout, and I had to put iodine on it after, but she did a brilliant job I havent had ingrown toenails since. I would recommend if it's so bad you should go to a doctor since nail technicians will not be allowed to work on it, and go soon before it gets worse.

It will actually train the nail to grow in the correct shape. Its available in a few salons here. Hope this helps :)

Is it right thing to do or shall I see some specialist for this. I started to have ingrown nails since a while ago, I was told when you cut the sides of nails too deep you starts to get ingrowns. Now everytime I do a pedicure I need to mention I have ingrowns in my toes so they send someone good at handling ingrowns although it's not their job to remove ingrowns. but they already know how to do. I never had any any issue removing ingrowns with nail technicians. As I was told to avoid having ingrowns, dont let your nail technician to cut the sides of your nails too deep, I have seen so filipino nail technicians tend to cut the sides of nails deeper because they were doing this in their country.

Yes, they do, and it is good to remove it. Do not wait until it is really bad, get it maintained regularly. Mine was really bad many years ago, hurting so much it was inflamed with secretion. It is really much better since I get it attended regularly.

Yes some ladies who do pedicures are very good and can do this but may not be officially allowed, it can be painful getting it sorted but you need to have it attended to asap. Unfortunately I do not know of anyone you may need to ask at a salon/s.
