Is the public holiday coming up on the 16th mean it is a dry day on the 15th? I wouldn't normally care but I might have a 40th birthday party to rearrange!

The "holiday" is to mark the Prophet's Ascension - it is called Leilat al Meiraj. This event marks the night that Allah (God) took The Prophet Mohammad [PBUH'> (also known as Mohamed or Muhammed) on a journey from Mecca to Jerusalem and then to heaven. http://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/united-arab-emirates/leilat-al-meiraj

Lets put in simple words, this is an Islamic holiday to mark a very important event that happened in history. Guys its all over internet. Just plain avoiding any controversies. I think everyone knows that there are days with dry nights sometimes in the year. But this is not an Eid, it's not a day we were told to mark (though I am the last one to complain over an extra day off when it comes). So it's not something people need to get offended over.

Typical! Another 'holiday' over a weekend ? 'Holiday' ???? Your comment is just plain rude! edited by samram on 03/05/2015 Why is that rude? It's exactly what she said it is. What would be an extra day off is on a Friday so no extra day off. See? No rudeness.

It normally is a 'dry' holiday. If I were you I'd rearrange the party.
