There will be 8 of us wanting to go to the Wild Wadi when our friends are over from Greece later this month. Do you think it would be worth our while buying the Family Entertainer book just for the Wild Wadi vouchers? Does anyone know how many there are in the book, please?

Simpleasabc, I have the entertainer dining out which is gathering dust on our coffee table, come over and harvest some coupons - there seem to be some good brunch offers....

Same scenario here re lving the good life- did you see my reply on the thread about having to travel to the wedding and bring a gift? When we go back on holiday there's also a tendency for dh to show off a bit. Do you experience that too? Gosh, yes, but he's regretting it now, with regard to his mother :) His father was just proud, without expecting anything and our friends are more understanding, but his mother is just outrageous :)

I'd be fine if our freezer weren't so small and I didn't have a great big goose (but not large enough for 8 of us!) in it! There is this thing I've noticed about Greeks (and other nationalities, but in my case, I can be specific about Greeks) - that the ones who have moved abroad are expected by their compatriots to be living the exceedingly good life and to be really well off and, at least in my husband's case, the expat Greeks do nothing to disabuse their friends and families of these expectations. We are "abroad", therefore, we must be rolling in it :)

Maybe you could convince your dh of the benefits of the book if you take a week's worth of activities with occassional meals, coffees and ice creams and show the normal cost and then what you'd be saving using the book. Men usually like figures and he may overlook the fact that he has to spend some money to save some:-) Also point out to him that since your friends are so kind, it's only fair to give them a taste (literally) of Dubai while they are here. Do you have to cook everything fresh or can you get away with freezing stuff in advance for when they come. It's really no fun to have to prepared a big meal when you've had a day out sightseeing.

Can you not do the same? :-) It's not going to be a nice break for you with all that extra cooking. Unfortunately, cooking is my "thing" and I am expected to produce meals for guests twice if not three times a day.. edited by simpleasabc on 10/04/2011 Ha you haven't trained hubby very well, mine would get short shrift if he expected me to do....anything. LOL When we have guests it also means I am on holiday, if holiday guests can't afford treats out then they shouldn't be coming to you and expecting freebees all the time. Yes it's nice to offer them B&B and occasional treats, but they shouldn't become freeloaders. You're not Greek, then? ;) I don't work for a living, live off my lovely husbad who, bless him, works his socks off to give us as good a life-style as possible. We have fantastic friends who look after us, particularly dorter, without expecting anything from us when we visit Greece - how can we not reciprocate? The only mean Greek I've met is my ma-in-law and we won't go there!!!! Sorry if I'm sounding hard done by, I just wish my husband would understand how useful the Family Entertainer book could be for us :) There's no way I would want our Greek friends not to stay with us, though it will be hard work, but such a pleasure anyway :)

Maybe he'll change his mind if you volunteer him for kitchen duty. He pleads ignorance, which is bliss for him.

Simpleas i would buy the book yourself (we dint get our guests to buy it we just share the vouchers so we all save money. It has soooooooo many coffee shops and fast food places and ice cream pkaces we find when we are dashing around with guests that we use those alot. Pkus i tend to pkan a day for them to go off on their own and give them relevant vouchers for their day it makes a huge difference to the ost. That's what I wanted to do, Claire, but husbad's being a bit funny about it. He seems to think that we'll just spend every day dune bashing, after a drive round the sights but not actually having anything to eat or drink unless it's provided by the live-in cook, washer-up and general skivvy (moi) :)

Hi, Wingclip :) I'm afraid husbad has told me he doesn't want to get the Family Entertainer book as our friends will have spent all their money on the flights (true enough, was wondering how they could afford it in the first place, in present economic climate in Greece) and he doesn't think they'll be able to afford anything but the Sheddi price (i.e. free), so now he wants to wait and see what they say about it when they arrive. I thought we could do it as a combined celebration with dorter's 16th birthday, but apparently, she is too old for it now :( I will check with husbad, in case he has plans I don't know about, but email me on: simpleasanniebc at gmail dot com about the Bateaux Dubai tickets and I hope I'll be able to get them to you :)

there are three in the family entertainer, so six people can go at half rate. if you plan on taking them out to eat and on entertaining them for a while, you should definitely buy the book.

Thanks, Schmoo. Even if there are 3 vouchers, I think we'd save on the purchase of the book. Good point, I'll see what else is in there..

There are 3 in the Entertainer Family and definitely worth it. Its 350 but you save nearly that much just for Wild Wadi and get all the other stuff that comes with it too

There are 3 vouchers in the Entertainer Kids...the Family one might have more? I think it'd be worth it as you'd probably use some of the other vouchers with guests too.
