I have bought a number of items from Etsy and always been so happy with them! However, I have ordered two little dresses for my flowergirls for my wedding, and production was supposed to take 4 - 6 weeks. 10 weeks on I'm still waiting! She has used USPS to ship them and it seems that they are stuck at customs in the US. She has said that she can resend two more if I pay for priority shipping - but I don't think that I should have to! Otherwise - amazing website! LOVE LOVE!

Hi, I have sold on etsy, although it has been a year. I sold to Canada, aus and US. Was never a problem with the post. I used normal registered post, have always found there was problems with incoming post rather than outgoing! I set up a PayPal account and just invoiced customers with a bill which they paid with cc. Hope this helps. Thanks for ur answer, can i know about this registered post? Like wich one? Thanks

So it is legal to sell online through Etsy from Dubai? Maybe this sound like a stupid question but I know laws can be tricky here. What about selling online via your own website? Is that also ok? Sorry for a little off-topic :)

I know some of the people from ARTSE (the art/craft fleemarket in Time Square & Festival City) sell on Etsy. I think they have a collective shop on Etsy too. Try and contact them for info on selling from here. Excellent!! Off to Etsy to look for ARTE goodies...

ETA - you can always message the seller first and sort something out re delivery here. I have found communication with Etsy sellers to be excellent without exception. :) edited by Green-ish on 26/01/2011 I agree - they've always been really flexible and accommodating to me. Interesting thread - I was wondering about Ebay and Etsy and deliveries as I'd heard people get their mail delivered to their offices since street numbers are so vague. Yep...all mail delivered to PO boxes unless you pay for a courier service. Lots have the mail addressed to the company address but it's also easy and fairly cheap to get your own PO box. Depends on where you live and where the nearest/most convenient PO boxes are. :)

Thank you ladies. I saw something I would like to buy but was unsure how easy it would be for delivery to Dubai. All I can suggest is to learn from my one 'bad' experience and pay extra for either courier or registered mail. The items that never made it to me were custom made from fabric no longer in production and the end of the sellers supply. While the seller and I did work something out, I have often wondered where those thoroughly gorgeous Size 2 pants and top ended up... :( ETA - you can always message the seller first and sort something out re delivery here. I have bought many items while living in the states and were very happy. When I tried to purchase from Dubai, I had trouble with my paypal account and couldn't order. I think I was having issues with the billing address but then my account got frozen and paypal requested I call them to reactivate. Too much effort for hair bows for my daughter. So I found a seller with a website and I was able to purchase with a visa. I love Esty as well! edited by jules22 on 26/01/2011

I adore Etsy...so many amazing things and it feels wonderful to buy hand-made and support someone's very small business. I did once have a parcel from the US go missing but the seller and I worked something out that we were both happy with. For anyone who's never looked - http://www.etsy.com/ Warning - DO NOT HAVE YOUR CREDIT CARD WITHIN REACH! ;)

Don't know if this is a help as I am presently in Australia, not Dubai. I've bought many things on there - mostly from America and had them shipped out. Never had any issues. I've even had stuff custom made by some designers. It's a great way to get unique gifts for friends (and moi ;-D).
