I have started using Magnesium tablets. They are naturally forming and take 30 mins before you go to sleep. Helps put me out and also does not give any of the horrible side effects like bad dreams as the other more damaging tablets - hope that helps.

Please be careful no to mix things as even some of the natural stuff can lower blood pressure. If you don't want to use things which are primarily used for other conditions, try chammomile tea before bed (an acquired taste but very effective) and breathing exercises - breathe in for a slow 5, hold for a slow 15, breathe out for a slow 10. Repeat 10 times. Slow = as slow as you can manage!! very effectice. ETA: Breathe in thuough nose, out through mouth & really empty lungs. edited by Sue R on 19/07/2011

Melatonin tablets work well. Your body naturally releases melatonin to send you to sleep anyway these just give you an extra shot to get you to sleep quicker and stay there! DC http://www.sleepfoundation.org/article/sleep-topics/melatonin-and-sleep edited by DohaCheeky on 19/07/2011

I second St john's Wort, you can find it at Organic Foods&Cafe in a form of tea. Valerian root (i like capsules)-have been used for centuries, safe and effective, fantastic herb.

St john's Wort is often used as a herbal solution for sleep problems. It's not a quick fix but sometimes helps kick start a better sleep pattern. Read up on it and see if it might be worth trying.

How about a relaxing aromatherapy massage (can do yourself) using Lavender oil, before bedtime?

How about trying Annadin Night time formula, the antihistamine part makes you sleepy!
