This is one of the reasons why I still work. My husband would be a nightmare if I stopped working - he just wouldn't value a role as a housewife and he would have resented me being at home (he would probably have treated me as a slave as well, or tried to...).

To Wanda and any of the others who depend on taxis, I arrived home from the UK last night to find my new (to me!) car in the driveway so I am able to pick people up from Dubai Internet City metro as necessary, or anywhere in Lakes, Springs, Meadows, of course. You run the risk of taking a scenic route to a coffee morning and possibly arriving many hours late, but it'll be an outing ;) Congratulations on the 'new' car-enjoy sxploring! Funny you should say that, how did you know it was an "Explorer"? :) Sometimes I suprise myself!!!!! Would take you up on the exploring but live down by the Creek-when you get your bearings come visit.

It would be good to have a support group. The one thing I really miss is that I cannot shoot off down the road to a mates house or family etc when the going gets bad, which I could have done at home. However, if I was at home I would have had him chucked out the house by now if he had behaved anywhere near like he does here.

thank you all, its now 5.30 in the new year, he has just kicked the ps3 across the room, lots of nice stuff you said ladies, need to get back to a few of you many things u say are right, bit drunk new year and all that but could want to meet up, err IDIOT DON'T DRIVE!!! so am taxi girl! Im an old fat middler as well!! LOL u guys replies were good and thank you, it means a lot when your alone. really.. i have no other support system!! What a start to the New Year-don't hesitate to email me (email in message below) if you need someone to lend a year-I don't drive either butam near a metro station so we can meet like that

We might not get on with each other, but we might meet others we get on with. I've been hesitant about going because I'm so old and fat, but what the heck, it's what's inside that matters! Is it just me or since moving here and gave up my job, etc has your hubby started being a complete nasty bully? I am very alone here, don't have anyone to call in UK, no family, close friends, only aquaintances. Been married for over 20 years. Stay in our villa all day whilst he is at work for 5 years now, I used to have a very good job and well educated and intelligent, I still try very hard to keep things going, beautiful xmas trees, candles, presents etc, but nothing back. As I said I have no female friends or relatives to talk to, no mother, aunties etc its just me. I think he uses my situation to bully me, he knows I cannot tell anyone what he does to me, so hence the total control factor. Our last trip away from here, he said quote "You have the face of a hag and the body of a old woman"....I did some crying that night :-( PS I aint that bad)! Bully indeed! Hope you find a solution and some resolution.
