Thanks so much for all your help ladies - I love the community on here! I took Heffalumps advice and bought a copy of Time out magazine and ended up booking Spectrum on One at the Fairmont. Its Dhs 395 for the Hops and Vines brunch but looks incredible! My family will definitely feel like theyre getting a top class brunch - i cant wait!
I went a few weeks ago. Service for drinks was a little slow but apart from that it was fab and the food is amazing
Enjoy :-)

My favourite is Mina Al Salem and we are booked there for xmas day. Like Al Qsar way over the 300 budget, I think it is 495 but it is the full on Dubai brunch experience. I have been to Rotanna and the food was ok but not atmosphere, just eat and leave. Good value though! Al Qsar, Westin Bubilicious and Mina Salam are the best. For party and naughty behaviour loved Yalumba but would depend on your parent's outlook on life, I would definitely not take mine but took my children 21, 23 and respective girlfriends/boyfriends 22/28 and we had a ball.
I really like Bubbalicious at the Westin Above the budget you mentioned I know but it does include free flowing Veuve Clicquot Champagne, loads of cocktails, lobsters, crab etc. They have live entertainment and a sea view.
Take them on a Abra ride. You can haggle with some to take you up and down the creek for an hour or just take the RTA one for one dirham across from Textile souk (best place I think to get nice pashminas) to the spice and gold souk after you have been to see the Dubai Museam.
Oh, dear, you've just reminded me, we took my mother to lunch at Bab al Shams on her first day here, thinking she would get a feel for the place. She hated it - kept saying how different it was from London and how strange it was and the food was strange and there was so much desert. Unfortunately, that set the tone for her whole stay. I would still happily take anyone normal to Bab al Shams, though :D
ETA: Also, you can get a good deal on a week-day at Bab al Shams, using the pools and other facilities, with buffet lunch included. Well, we did during Ramadan, anyway!

My apologies for highjacking, I just wondered if the Movenpick JBR has a view of the sea? And has anyone tried the brunch at the Rotana on the Walk, and if so, does it have a view of the sea?
My parents loved Bab Al Shams too and it also gives you a drive out into the desert with them - that good old Sunday afternoon drive lol. It's also in one of the Entertainer books which will cut your costs down - email me as I can help you on that one! kim dot dubaigirl at gmail dot com
My parents loved going to Bab Al shams for lunch - really lovely setting.
The Address Brunch is really nice
Al Qasr is my favourite.
Another brunch that I thought was superb was at the Al Badia golf club - stunning food and beautiful location
Two that are good prices but still delicious...
Thai kitchen Park Hyatt, Al le carte, they will bring you lots of little plates from the menu and then you can order more of whatever you want. 250dhs with grapes and hops.
Anise Intercon Festival City. it's 400dhs with wine and beer, but if you have the fine dining entertainer they let you use the vouchers for drinks package. Really lovely food presented so nicely.
Both have great spots on the creek, impressive for visitors.
Hi Steph, we are new to Dubai as well and last week when my parents came over we were faced with a similar dilemma so I bought a copy of Time Out, which lists all the Friday Brunches, location, the price, type of food etc.
We have small children so were drawn to the kid friendly ones and so far have tried and really enjoyed, the Emirates Golf Club and Movenpick (Jumeriah Beach Residence) both around 300 AED mark
If you want to break the budget, I have heard that Al Qasr, Madinat Jumeirah is the one to go for -500 AED/person.
Hope you have a lovely time with you parents!
Hey Ladies,
Ive posted in here before and was amazed by the helpful responses so figured i'd come back for another round:
My parents, auntie and uncle are coming over for 6 days next week from the UK. I want to show them a really great time but havent been here too long myself so am not so sure of all the best places to take them! I want to take them to brunch on Friday and need some advice on where to go - Im looking for somewhere with super tasty food, lovely surroundings and a great atmosphere for around Dhs 300ish but could stretch to a wee tad more if need be! Theyre big on hops so champagne would just be an added bonus if included but definitely not essential! So far ive been to Double decker for a booze up with pals, and Warehouse for a more sophisticated experience...and am looking for some more ideas!
Any ideas on other things to do or places to see would be grand too!
Thanks ladies!
Steph
