Need this for a present: I have seen in Bastakiya those pretty Iranian tablecloths in the paisley block print with fringe. The shop where I saw them does not have the size I need.

Does anyone know where else I can find them?

Brilliant - never managed to make it before my trip home for Xmas but now checking for the names of the places again, I am oh so delighted to read someone has seen the actual thing in Global Village and the Persian place in Barsha! Thank you, thank you, thank you DubaiGirl and unsourire! Still wanting to pay a visit to the Antique Museum so you are more than welcome to join Irooni ... Or did you mean join on the drive to Sharjah? ;)

In Barsha, there is a Persian carpet and antiques shop next to Caspian Persian Restaurant. They have these tablecloths.

Hi twin_butterfly, go to the Global village Iran pavillion and you will find all that you need. Be ready to bargain. the same tablecloth I bought in a Tehran bazaar was almost double the price here but you can bargain them down. Hope this helps.

Lol Irooni :) This is the new big store that's right outside the metro station opposite the entrance to DCC... think it's about a year old, not the one round the corner from Abshar. My husbands family loooooooove this store. I did buy some cushion covers once and they definitely looked like ones I saw in Iran. Oh MamanAli Thanks:)) I have never been there, I will definitely go and have a look.

Twin Butterfly, I haven't been to Day to Day in a while, but they have all things Iranian in there (and the store opp DCC is new and bigger), so I thought they might. How about the Persian carpet shop in Dubai Mall in the Souk Al Bahar. I recall they had other things apart from carpets there. Alismum, i have never seen anything Iranian other than IRANIANS themselves (lol) in day to day! Where is this day to day? Oh yes, there are Iranian DVDs and CDs too! edited by Irooni on 05/12/2011

Antiques Museum might be a good place to look and it's closer to me. Have tried several of the Iranian/Arabic souvenir shops at MOE but nothing there - maybe Souk Al Bahar is worth a try. Failing that I am afraid I might have to drive to Sharjah ... dreading it already! Thanks Ladies! I would love to go with you, don't want to go alone!:))

Twin Butterfly, Sharjah seems a long way to go for a tablecloth, Antique Museum looks like a good option. I have never been there myself (never heard of it until today) but I must put it on my list of things to do :) [b'>Antique museum [/b'> [i'>If you only visit one place on this list make it the Antique Museum. The only criticism of the place we have is that it isn’t a museum – and it doesn’t just sell antiques. The 65,000sq ft unit in the heart of Al Quoz is a maze of shoulder-wide passageways with goods imported from around the world balancing precariously overhead. Crystal glass shisha pipes vie for space with Pakistani swords, row upon row of luxurious pashminas and wood-carved ornaments brought in from Southeast Asia. Be sure to ask to see the ‘secret’ antiques corner, which contains yet more goodies. (04 347 9935) Al Quoz Industrial Estate (take the first right before Kanoo building and first right again, Antique Museum is on your right). Open 9.30am-8.30pm Sun-Thu; 9am-11.30am; 3.30pm-8.30pm Friday.[/i'>
