Hello ladies! So happy to have found this forum.

I just moved to Dubai from the States after spending 2 months here last year. Since I've been back I've noticed my hair has been falling out far more than normal. Since I don't have health insurance I have been trying to do my own research and there seems to be a lot of potential causes - including hard water in the shower.

I'm curious if anyone else has experienced the same thing. Any advice would be appreciated!

I have too much hair, I always have done. It's thick, unruly, not quite curly but not straight enough to make any sense in the morning. When I arrived here and read all the hair falling out threads I thought my luck was in, but alas no hair falling :-( How do I make it fall out??? Any reverse advice to the original OP's question most gratefully received :-) x

So Safe shower filter! Doesn't work for some, but for me it works great! Really notice the difference when I don't use it. edited by shellly on 16/02/2011

Water quality, I would suspect.... consider using a water filter for your shower... To reactivate hair growth, look into natural remedies such as nettle tonic (available at the Organic Food Store).

Yep, is common here. I have thin old lady hair now!!!! haha. Try a hair filter, I got mine from cherry hair salon in Mina Sehayi hotel about 8 months ago but a lot of salons and supermarkets may stock them. It does make a difference, removing a lot of chemicals and **** from the water and your condition should improve.

this happens to everyone! main advice - don't panic. after a few months it settles down. i still shed handfuls of hair after 3 years here but it also grows super quick (vitamin d boost from the sun according to my hairdresser) so i think it all balances out in the end.

Ah ha! Thank you. After search I'm glad to see there is so much info here about the subject. I'm going to try a water filter and the keratase as a first step and see if those help. Much appreciated!

Hello! That is very normal! Same thing happened to me. I think its the weather, water or something here in Dubai that causes this. What I did was I purchased Kerastase capsules and used them on my hair - which helped! They are 800 Dhs.

Don't be surprised if it's just the water... happens... Could also be stress or that you are in a hair loss cycle (occurs every 7 years or so).. If you lighten your hair then you may want to consider stopping that as the water here can be a little harsh... :(
