Moving to Dubai - any feedback on the Springs?

Hi,

We are moving to Dubai in September (after several years in Qatar). We will probably be living in the Springs, so I would appreciate if anyone who lives or has lived there can give your feedback.

We are a family with 2 small kids (8 months and 3 years), is this comminity nice for families? Is there a playground in each of the Springs? Are there swimming pools for kids, and if there are - in which of the Springs?

Are there any hidden problems - traffic, noise, anything esle to look out for? Are any of the Springs better than others?

We will also need a nursery for our 3 year old. I know that there are nurseries within the Springs, and also neighbouring Lakes, Meadows. Would like to hear from mums who have children there. Are you happy with the teachers, facilities?

Thanks in advance for your time and advice!

hi we are living at the springs 14,i would say that its so so here,in our villa my only complain is that the smell on the kitchen drainage is awful at times, the smell of the water from the faucet at our masters bedroom smelled like it was mixed with antiseptic alcohol, and i always have dandruffs lols i dont know why but this is the first time it happened to me,ang lastly its always 20 to 25 dhs taxi fare from our place to a nearby metro station.nevertheless, everything is perfect. Go to Satwa and buy a 15aed kithchen drain trap from any plumbers and install. These are standard in UK houses but not so in UAE. Stops the smell with a one way valve type thingy.

I have to agree with what others have said about the maintenance contract. I lived in a villa that ended up being a nightmare because the landlord just didn't care and would not spend any money on maintaining his investment. The A/C, water tanks, plumbing, kitchen ceiling caved in.... I could go on (and on, and on.....!) If you can view a few before hand do so because some are well cared for, others not at all. It got to the point that I hated living there and couldn't wait to leave, purely because of the property I was in. Shame, because the community and facilities were great. A simple annual maintenance contract could have made my Springs experience so different!

Its our 7th year in Springs community and I am happy with the community and all that its got to offer. Am frm Springs 9...it has a pool shared with Springs 8, has a huge lake which is great for strolls. 2 kids playing areas shared with Springs 10 and 8... we are on the desert facing side of Springs drive with lake viewso away from traffic noise of the road that cuts thru the community. Grocery just 5 min drive away, coffee shops, gas stations, take aways, dine ins...there are loads of options as this community has become self sufficient over last 5 yrs. Healthy driving distance from 2 malls.. Mall of Emirates and Ibn Battuta.

Springs 14 has 2 pools, and is within walking distance to Town Centre shopping centre, which has quite a selection of shops, including Mothercare, coffee shops & supermarket, plus Fitness First. There is now a walkway above the road making it very safe to cross, compared to how it was previously. Just ensure that the landlord has a maintenance contract in place, so that you can call anytime you need a/c checked or water pump checked, etc. Have lived here for 5 years and it is one of the few areas of Dubai that is green.

It is great for young families!!! each seems to have a lovely community park and pool. Some have houses right onto the park/pool or backdoor access onto spinneys ( springs 2). I used to be able to walk to spinneys in 5 minutes! I just don't like how theyre all the same, and built in such a compact way. As an expat the springs is great though.

This is just my opinion. We recently moved to Dubai. First we looked @springs but after that our relator took us to JVT(jumeirah Village Triangle)next to the springs. We got a villa there. Lot of space comparing Springs, indipendent 2b villa.big yard. same price as springs.I think you can look online and see the video and pics. The area is still under development but so quiet, good living.

We used to live in Springs 15 and it has 2 pools and 2 small parks. 15 min walk to Spinneys supermarket through springs 14( no pool). There are 2 nurseries that I know of Raffles at springs town centre and emirates hills or Jebel Ali nursery in the meadows or lakes. The meadows has just been expanded so may have places for September but be fast as very popular! Road facing villas are normally a good bit cheaper than other villas due to noise etc. Make sure you get a villa with maintenance as some if these villas are in great condition but others not so. Great community feel and close to mall of the Emirates and Ibn Battuta mall.

Just make sure you are very very picky. There's no shortage of villas for rent, and many of them have been poorly maintained. Even though they're only about 7 years old and they look OK from the outside, once you start to look closely you'd think they were much older - they were built quickly using cheap materials and it shows! Make sure you get very clear information about the ongoing maintenance situation, because it's not unusual for landlords to tell you to pay and then they will reimburse you, and of course they then "forget" to pay you back. If the AC system or water pump break down the repair costs can be very sizeable, so you want to be sure that the LL is going to be footing the bill.

Hi, springs is lovely for families. We lived there for many years in springs 2 and springs 11, these are both great and have pools and walking distance to Spinneys centre. You can do short term rentals through arabian escapes and rent for a bit there whilst you decide where you want to be, they have quite a few springs villas, this is what we did initially.

hi :) I don't live in springs but a couple of friends do and have done for the past two/three years. What I know is not all of the springs have parks or pools, so you would be best when enquiring about a property ask about the facilities. They have never had problems with noise from traffic either. Can't answer all of your questions but hope that has been of some help.
