Our Christmas dinners for the last few years have been quite stress free and delicious thanks to M&S UK.

I don't know if this still pertains, but when I was a student in Bristol, 30 hmm hmm years ago, I remember being surprised that the stock in M&S there was "behind" the stock in M&S in London, where I come from, and when I visited Durham - well, I couldn't believe it, the stock there was about 2 years behind Brissle! It seems as if nothing has changed, it's location, location, location!

http://www.marksandspencerme.com/content/storeLocation.aspx?pName=Store_Locations I have been to Dubai Mall & Festival City. The food range is more extensive at Festival City and the clothes are about the same. I haven't been to Diera City Centre or Wafi yet. HTH :)

Yes, I walk in there and could almost make myself think that I'm back in the UK sometimes. Sad, I know, but true.

I love M&S and always see shoppers of all nationalities in there! I especially like the lingerie- such a wide range and also great for swimwear and work clothes too. Doesn't seem rip off expensive to me and I don't mind paying a little bit more for quality anyway. It's nice in there almost feel like I am back home for a minute :)

I recently bought DD a gorgeous bright pink duffle coat from there, it was the best one I could find (IMHO), having looked all around at Gap, Monsoon plus other shops.

I buy most of my work outfits from M&S and a lot of my kids clothes there, I like their quality. I am not a person falling into Pomegranate's shopper profile.

I think that M and S selections here are weighted in favour of the local market trends - long skirts, fussy tops, covered up - too much Per Una and not enough Autograph and Limited! But hey at least they are here and yes I buy things there. As I recall from my days working for one of their IT suppliers M&S were one of the first UK retailers to profile their customers as well as match stock levels of stuff like salads to the weather trends. Their stock was typically produced in relatively small numbers so I think this helped them to decide which stores to allocate a line to. I do know that if you saw something you liked you had to buy it then or suffer the consequences as once it was gone it was gone. It doesn't seem the same today when most of their stock is manufactured outside of the UK in large qtys.

Come on, who wasn't there at Christmas getting mince pies etc etc and Christmas knick knacks. Regarding your comments re the customer base, I guess it depends when and where you are - yes it WAS like that yesterday evening in DM but no it is often NOT like that through the week daytime when all the Brits are out. Yes, mejane, you are right - jut like Oxford Street! :D

Totally agree, I used to feel the need to go to M&S but the ranges of clothes and underware is so disappointing. Can't wait to go back to Uk this year - haven't been back for over 2 years now and I'll certainly go to the big one I know off! Having just come back from the UK and having tried to buy some new bras in the huge M&S in our local town there I can tell you they've got a bit lost... both fashionwise and size wise. Couldn't find much that would fit my ample bosom let alone anything I'd buy. And I wasn't tempted to buy any new clothes there either despite a browse around.

Pomegranate I disagree. WHile M&S here may not have the huge range as it does in the UK, it is still good for wardrobe basics. The food section, whilst very limited, does have some good stuff too. Perhaps the reason why you are seeing GCC etc people in there is because they are probably not travelling back to the UK to go to M&S there. BTW I shop there a couple times a month and I'm not a GCC national, Indian or Pakistani.

Pomegranate that sounds exactly like the shopper profile in M&S Oxford Street!

and yet I see ppl buying all the time! True, but look at the shopper profile that are doing the buying ;) edited by Pomegranate on 06/02/2011 now what does that mean? It means exactly what I wrote - the shopper profile I see in M&S in Dubai is not your typical M&S customer from the UK - the only people I see shopping in M&S in Dubai are people from GCC, non-GCC Arabs, Iranians and Indians/Pakistanis. Whether because they think because its iconic its cool to shop there regardless of the dated stock, who knows. I've also noticed alot of men in shopping in the ladies' section, whether they are shopping for their women at home or for themselves ;) its a bit weird!

I like the food section! I often find M&S hit and miss in London. They will have the bras you want in Ken High Street but the knickers in Oxford St etc etc.

Dated! All the clothes seem to be really old fashioned styles (and expensive), compared to what you would see in the UK. When I went to the M&S in Oxford Street for the first time on holiday, I couldn't believe it was the same store!
