I know for a fact that they will refuse to let me pay, and would be quite offended at not being allowed to treat their granddaughter. Regarding budget, they're more than capable of paying for nice restaurants but being quite old fashioned don't like to, as they see it, waste money in flash places. Thanks for your concern though. Thanks all for your suggestions, think we'll go to Rivington Grill.

sorry to point out something, may be it's cultural, .... you wonder what's their budget??? your grandparents??? shouldn't you be invinting them being your guests to at least one place? sorry again don't want to offend but they are close family .... just my point of view I suggest you either: 1-invite them there according to your budget around the fountain (carluccios, more, Urbano..), or 2- just take them to watch one show (while standing on burj side: best view) ... go have dinner somewhere inside the mall according to your budget then go back out and watch another one or two shows have tea around the fountain either standing or having tea... enjoy your time

i had dinner at more cafe last night - not my usual haunt - it was lovely, and there were quite a few grandparents clearly on holiday with families having a lovely time. reasonable food.

I would say that both rivington and Mango Tree have the best view and the best food but....they are pretty pricey. Mango tree is in the entertainer book though! I would go for More Cafe at the Dubai Mall side or Urbano in Souk al Bahar on the terrace. (think these are in entertainer book too!) If you get an outside table there's always the Meat Company (again in entertainer book) which is consistently good - ask for a table with a view.

Urbano - ground floor Souk al Bahar - lovely view. Or Cafe Madeleine upstairs in the mall, there is outdoor seating overlooking terrace.

The chinese restaurant in The Address has a good view and a chilled environment. Can't remember the prices though..

My usual guest-visiting-spot is Karma Kafe, but I think it'll be a bit too young and 'hip' for them (and expensive? I feel weird asking their budget). I was thinking Rivington Grill but again quite expensive. They're getting into town tomorrow and I've just been so busy with work that I've had no time to plan anything.... Eeek! :\:
