Parking fine :(

Does anyone know how much they are?
Stopped outside Spinneys motor city this morning to get a pint of milk. was gone 2 minutes and got a ticket. I know my own fault. Blinking expensive bottle of milk :(
Police are parked round the corner and giving tickets to every car that stops there, even if you stop to pick someone up.
Can I pay it today online or do I have to wait a couple of days?
Thanks

Don't forget that looking at the other dashboards to see if they have bought tickets is not applicable anymore since a lot of people pay through their mobiles.

you can get a parking permit if you pay to park regularly, and I believe they are valid all over and not just area specific - DH has one which now saves him a fortune in fines - he regularly missed getting to his car to put a new ticket on when he couldn't park in the office carpark as s)ds law the phone would ring as he was running out of the office.

I think this thread serves as a reminder not to park illegally anywhere, not even for a minute or two. I don't think it's a matter of whether you will get fined or not. There seems to be meter men on duty at each paid parking lot in this city during all the paying hours. The way I see it is that if you have not paid, you WILL get a ticket. Yes,,, I take a ticket even if there is 10 min left to the free time. it is better to pay 2 than having to pay 200 dirhams.

Barsha's becoming a nightmare too on this front - metres are springing up everywhere in Barsha 1!

Why is it that October got slated for making a genuine mistake and yet no one has commented about this? Not having a go OP......this isn't aimed at you but at the inconsistency of some posters I think maybe because october's mistake could have had a potentially fatal outcome. I'm the last person to have a go at you october, I got distracted behind the wheel too once and ended up writing my car off by going into a wall. Glad nothing bad happened during your mistake moment! Mine taught me that NOTHING is more important than staying fully focused no matter what conversation is going on in the car. (Thank goodness I'd had my seatbelt wisdom a few years earlier! lol) ETA: I don't think anybody did slate october. Surely you don't slate someone simply by pointing out the mistake they made (which she even admitted to if I remember correctly) edited by zengirl on 05/06/2012 Having done the same maneouvre yesterday, albeit without the U-turn - I turned left instead which is what you're supposed to do - with the same amounts of traffic, the sign was actually in my blind spot as I crossed the lanes to get to the centre lane to turn left. So even 'fully focused', ie. no radio, no passengers talking, I'd have missed it, and it wasn't like I was looking behind me to where she was sat in the back seat! And illegal parking can also poentially cause an accident as people try and overtake Anyways, 'nuf said on this subject from me I think! I have important laundry to do today! @ highland lass I won't do it again. lol me neither! edited by october on 05/06/2012

You can slate me all you want. I did something I shouldn't have, I put my hand up and I will pay the consequences. Lesson learnt. I won't do it again.

Don't recall what they are called here on the website, but in the UK we call them Penalty Points. Don't know if they will give them to me or not as its to soon from getting the ticket. On the police website there is a list of different traffic violations and the fine/points/time your car can be impounded. Rather amusing to read through them. If everyone was stopped for there violations on the list there would be no cars on the roads of Dubai ;) There are no 'black' points for a standard parking ticket. Only if you're blocking traffic, parking in a handicapped spot etc.

Parking fines are 200 dhs if you are fined for not having a ticket at all. 150 dhs are fines for when you have a ticket but the time has elapsed. Nope I forgot to put a ticket on my car and the fine was 150 dhs. I think it's more about what 'zone' you parked in, whether it's an A or B zone, but who knows.

Oh well....... oh good that the amount is only 200, last year my husband wanted to renew his car and was shocked to find 5 fines from Sharjah police each 200 Dhs and Dubai police could not tell him what was the reason for this fines, they were all taken without his notice and no tickets was left on his car... he didnot have time to go over to sharjah police and investigate he paid them all then. I dont know why police gives fines without advising the car owner of it so he does not repeat it atleast. edited by loranaji on 05/06/2012

Thanks, cant see anywhere the amount is mentioned on the back and the front is only in arabic. Guess I'll just go to the police station. Lesson learnt. maybe they are changed now, earlier the police mentioned a fine number on the ticket and you can see the amount for the fine at the back of the ticket.. quote'> [b'>I am guessing that the amount is on there but that the OP cannot read it because the numbers are not 123 but the numeric system used here.[/b'> edited by AnonDubai on 05/06/2012

Someone please correct me if I am wrong. From my understanding, you don't need to pay this ticket until you reregister your car. The fine will show up in a few days online and you will be able to see the amount and you also have the option of paying it online. Personally, I don't think it's worth it to go to the police station to find out this info. HTH. Yes this is correct. All traffic fines don't need to be paid until you renew your car registration. Having said this, if your car is registered to a company, or there is more than one car under your name, then you cannot renew the registration of any of the cars under the same name/company until all cars have their traffic fines paid Highland lass, if you wait a couple of days then you can find out the details and amount of the violation online (go to the Dubai Police website and then somewhere on the home pages there is a link for traffic violations). In general I think it's better to wait to pay all traffic violations, this is because the RTA will have a "sale" on traffic fines at some point during the year which runs for about a month. What basically happens is that traffic violations are reduced by 40% - it's not all fines, I think Salik is exempt and I'm not sure abaout parking fines. Last year my husband's 700 dhs speeding fine was reduced to 430 dhs, so definitely worth waiting.
