Hi, I really need assistance and help with someone who has done this before. My 2 year old daughter has still not started speaking yet and I wanted to rule out any medical issues that could be a reason for her delayed speech. We visited Dr. Syed Sajjid at City hospital who did an audiometry test and recommended surgery to insert a tube to help drain fluid from the ear which he said could be one of the reasons for her speech delay. I am apprehensive about my baby undergoing an invasive procedure and want to be absolutely sure about the next steps. Can anyone recommend a good pediatric ENT specialist I could take my daughter to?

I've taken my daughter thrice to Dr. John and he was the only doctor from the 3 (City hospital, Unicare and himself) who recommended we don't go for surgery to insert the gommmits. My baby speaks fluently and has shown tremendous improvement. I am glad I did not have to have her admitted to the hospital and would highly recommend Dr. John

My daughter is diagnosed with some hearing loss but not due to fluid it's because of cochlear doesn't work properly as they said, first times they said its because of fluid but now there is no fluid in her ears and the hearing test result is failed in the ABR test it shows moderate hearing loss in both ears and the Ent told me she needs to use hearing aids, it's so hard for me and I'm so confused that why I'm looking for the good doctor who can trust , Does any body know how is the hearing aid for kids ? Is it hidden inside their ears?

Hi I just posted this on another query here today. At age 4, my son needed grommits in both ears due to fluid build up. As highly recommended on this forum, we went to Dr Bahgat at Medical Internation Specialist Center. He is highly experienced and was indeed excellent. Here are his contacts: Medical International Specialist Center Al Wasl Road, Jumeira 1 Tel No. 04-3499100 The grommit insertion is just a 30 mins surgical procedure and he was discharged in a few hours and even went to school the next day. My only regret was that I did not know of the mild hearing problem he had earlier as his speech was delayed so much. He also had enlarged adenoids taken out at the same time. It may sound crazy but the fact is that his speech was so much clearer the very next day onwards. After that, he just went uphill in his speech. Good luck, its very painful for you to have to go through this but it is for the best. I would insist that you meet Dr Bahgat to be very sure that it is required.

Hi @mummy2012 I took my daughter to see Dr. John last week and he is excellent. She has fluid in her ear which is partial hearing loss...he has asked us to come back to him in 2 months. I highly recommend him

Dr John McEwan. He has been doing the same op for my son a few times now. Wouldn't want anybody else doing it. He is great. And city hospital operating staff are great and mum or dad can stay with the children until they fall asleep with the gas mask, no needles are used until the children sleep...

Dr. John McEwan, but we have not used him for the actual procedure you mention. His clinic is in the Mazaya Centre and he operated on my G'son at City to remove his tonsils and adenoids. Absolutely no complaints.

Sorry I can't help you out here but when my DD was just turned two she had this done in the UK and we never looked back. It's not actually that much of an invasive procedure and I would imagine it has improved over the last 20+ years. edited by Geordie expat on 22/09/2014
