I have been potty training my almost 2 year old boy for about 2 months, he does well at home, but still has accidents when going out and at night still wears diaper but not during naps. This Eid holidays, we went to Dubai to stay in a hotel for 2 days (we live in AD) and the first day he pooed in his pants in the morning so I put him on pull-ups, now he is not telling us he has to go, we have to take him to the toilet otherwise he just pees. Yesterday night, he peed in the carpet, something he has never done before, even poohing in the pants never happened before till Dubai. In 3 weeks we are going to China for 2 weeks, don’t know how to approach the potty training, just 2 days in Dubai and he is regressing, he is treating pull-ups as diapers, if I use training pants or just underwear I will probably be changing him and washing dirty underwear which is something I won’t like to do during holidays. So what to do?, I was thinking of using pull-ups and put him in the portable potty every time I can, and if he regresses then back to square once when we return??.
BTW, do they sell any other type of pull-ups different than pampers?.

I agree with not using Pull Ups, just go for it as Asti says...... but 2 weeks in China that is fairly exceptional circumstances. I think if it was me I would put nappys back on full time and after your China trip and once all the jet lag has gone away then start toilet training from scratch. Traveling in a foreign country with a toddler can be pretty stressful, don't add to your worries by worrying about finding toilets and cleaning up accidents. He may even take to toilet training quicker as he will be a few months older.

Hi My son is absolutely fine with weeing in a potty/toilet and most of the time poop's too - however, sometimes he does forget about the toilet/potty when it comes to the poop's. I just accept them as feel putting a nappy on confuses the matter. Your son will get there in the end, as will mine :-)

Avoid pull ups. It confuses them. Just continue what you are doing. Let him wear underwear during the day.

I wouldn't recommend pull ups. They allow him to regress. There are no consequences to an "accident" in the pull ups. They are diapers that just go on differently. Lots of prompted trips to the potty and great rewards until he starts telling you that he needs to go. Be prepared for accidents with extra clothes and plastic bags for the dirty ones en tow. It sounds like the excitement of a new venue is more enticing to him than going potty, so you need to find ways to make going on the potty worthwhile for him. GREAT rewards for when he goes might help.
