Dr.Mathew is not a dermatologist, but he is pretty darn good doc thats what I can say :) I went to 3 different dermatologists in Dubai, and with the medicines they had prescribed for the boils,i got additional allergic conditions- like rashes - which lasted forvever- i had to take antihistamines as well for my rashes. Last resort - I went to doctor matthew- he gave me one antibiotic- and the boils are now gone- its been quite some time now since they reappeared. i googled the no for dr.matthew- its +971 6 5595597, +971 6 5595594 . But if you are going, I would advise you to call first- he may be away on vacation

Thank you for the warm wishes and compassion and thank you for the link it was useful. It was detected as Staphylococcus infection, and suggested as an ingrown hair (s) but how come some stay small -pimple- and others grow so aggressively fast, within 12 hours they go from 3mm to 3cm... the drainage is going well so far let's hope it doesn't fail...

If it's an ingrown hair I feel for you. I had one in a very sensitive place and it grew to the size of a pingpong ball!! I thought my hormones were going crazy and I was growing a testie!!! Apparently surgery was risky because of all the blood vessels in the area. First course of treatment, which worked, was a very high dosage of antibiotics which cause it to shrink and in the process it "split" and it was due to an ingrown hair!! As you say there are several so it could be something else. Most likely you are reading what you can on the internet. I found this article on boils interesting. It may help you to ask questions of your doctor. I find that if you raise questions to your doctor it may trigger them to think beyond their diagnosis. http://www.medicinenet.com/boils/page2.htm I hope you find a solution to the problem.

Yep, my bff had it and it errupted in various places b/c the cyst errupts via a tunnel or something - front back - where ever it can and she's not hairy at all! In fact, she doesn't even wax her legs but it has something to do with the origin of the root - I wish I knew more but she suffered for years and finally she got it sorted about a year ago and it never returned. Sometimes it was so painful she could barely walk. but it's showing in different places around my buttom cheeks (...) and even ''front' area :( .. it can't be just one hair... what kind of specialist should I see.. i'm following up mainly with a surgeon, and now and then when it doesn't require an operation i see the dermathologist .. they suggested a certain ointment to apply at night 'in my nose and back ''exit''' as it's an easy entrance for this undetected germ... +and i'm not even that hairy to start with edited by sababy on 31/07/2011

ocupuncture? i never thought of that... does it actually work? can you recommend someone? as for laser, i'm not sure if it would be required as I have aleady had 3 sugeries to empty and at the moment getting two drained on daily basis (painful but bearable if the alternative is an operation) while going through another course of antibiotic though Iv... it depends if 'i'm lucky' and never have them again.. it has no specific timing 1 week to 4 weeks in between... i wish i found a sure way to prevent it from happening at all :s Acupuncture sometimes work where Western medicines fail. worth a try. In Chinese medicine they say you get boils and pimples if you QI is not flowing properly in your body and there is a blockage. Acupuncture therfor regulates the flow. You heal your body from within. I know it sound hocus pocus to some but I always say "dont diss it till you tried it!". Martine Nates comes highly recommended edited by Asti on 31/07/2011

That's what I thought as well. It occurs more often in men (as they are more hairy). You might have to have an operation. DH had it done recently and feels much better. Usually with a Pylodonial cyst (or tail bone cyst) there is a tunnel and a pocket at the end of it. Apparently it's because two cells have never fused properly and your body starts encapsulating an ingrown hair resulting in a very painful cyst. Good luck! You may have a polynydal cist - Thats the common place for them and the only way to remove it is to have the area sorted. This is what I thought of when I read your post Sababy...my brother had this a few years ago...if I remember correctly the root of the problem was a very deep in- grown hair. He had to have surgery on it and it had to be drained and dressed everyday for a period but it did go away and has never returned. Sorry you're going through this..very distressing for you and no doubt painful.. Hope it gets sorted for you soon. Also, he was very stressed at the time it developed so there could be a link there.

Sababy, it really sounds like a polynydal cyst and if it is, antibiotics and draining won't help. They literally have to dig out the root of the hair and its quite deep...it then takes about 1-2 months recovery time - packing daily and having the area redone. I suggest you look it up on the internet and go to a doctor specialising in this.

Have you tried acupuncture? A good acupuncturist would be able to recognize the area in your body that needs to be treated to prevent, treat and cure this.

Quite a few years ago when I worked I had them in the same places, as well as armpits and in my nose!!! Never in my life before did I have a boil. Went to the doctor and it boiled (excuse the pun) down to stress!!!! When I quit working for the woman who I was stressed from, they cleared up and I never had another boil. Definitely can be stress related!!!! edited by Crystil on 30/07/2011

Hi sababy I had about 20 boils all over my thighs , recurring for about a year. I went to different doctors, tried antibiotics and no good at all. Then went to this doc in a small clinic in sharjah- Dr. Matthew at Matthew medical center in sharjah- and one antibiotic for a week , and that was the end of all my boils. Nothing since and its been now 1.5 years. His clinic is in the Avenue building in sharjah king faisal road. Great doctor, gentle and patient to listen to you

I have a recurrent boil, had it for over 20 years, but it is not as recurrent as yours. I get mine every 9 to 12 months and no one knows why it always comes to the same place. I've given up even trying to find out how or why now. My UK GP tried zapping it with a strong course of anti biotics but it still came back eventually. Mine is in the cheeks of my b u m and rubs on my tail bone. When I get it I can't sit down properly for a couple of days. I buy magnesium paste from Boots in the UK and put a big dollop of it under a dressing, in a couple of days it dries up. Sorry I can't offer any more help, yours sound like a nightmare.

Plugged sweat glands that become infected. (This is the most common cause of boils buttocks). Washing your skin with antibacterial soap will prevent bacteria from building up and infecting your pores. The regular use of an abrasive brush (such as a loufa) often helps. It will help to break up oil plugs that build up around hair follicles. I get them too, and sitting in a VERY hot bath helps bring them to head. Make sure your are wearing all cotton underwear that is not too tight!!!! Cut back on caffeine and Chocolate it seems to exasburate them.
