My husband is always raving about Royal Kebab in Media City and I just ate there. I must say that I loved the food. It’s a hidden treasure. Loved the freshness of the food. Wish it was more easy to find the place. Has any body tried anything here? I want to try more dishes here. What do you suggest I experiment with?

I think you are confusing Brit Balti and Royal Kebab which is in Media City, Royal Kebab does not have any filipino employees. I am a regular there as my office is two doors down. All of their food is VERY fresh and tastes wonderful. My husband is gaining weight so he is definitely also enjoying it. There is also a great sushi place near the BBC building. I ordered chicken tikka, and trust me it was oily, and not well cooked!! I believe they use that Americana Garden, chicken tikka packs!! Will never order anything from them ever ever ever again! edited by mariegrazia on 27/10/2011

Yes, I also tried Brit Balti, and food seemed frozen. Royal Kebab is an excellent alternative. Louise, please tell your friends to have a look at this thread! I am very disappointed with their service. I ordered 2 portions of butter chicken, 4 naan and specifically asked for BONELESS tandoori chicken ( The Filipino girl on the phone, repeated my order twice!) I asked her several times to make sure the chicken is boneless and that we get the spicy mint sauce. Yes ma'am, yes ma'am, yes ma'am! Driver showed up, with one butter chicken, bone in chicken and 8 naan and no mint sauce! He demanded the entire amount although he didn't have the whole order. I will bring it later....we are busy....some song and dance! He wouldn't take the extra naan back ( which are 10dhs each by the way!!!!) he left and came back with the extra butter chicken which was supposed to be here initially, an hour and a half later. I asked him to take it back and refund the money, since it was too late. He just refused. This was last Thursday. I have been trying to contact the manager or owners since, without avail! The gal that answers that phone can just say...sorry ma'am!!!!

The English way of cooking Indian food is very different. I haven't tried buttered chicken at home however it most likely does taste very different to here ( I hope that makes sense) The owners of Brit Balti ( good friends of mine) cook indian food the way the resturants do at home. The prices there are not too disimilar to the prices in the UK. A meal without rice or naan etc is around 30-36DHS per person.

We get takeaway from Media City branch. Have to say, I think it's in a different class to any UK takeaway. Fish biriani is stunning, as is everything else we have tried, including mutton and dal dishes. Must admit haven't tried butter chicken, so might stay away from that.

We usually get take away from them in international city, and they are fab! This weekend we tried [b'>brit balti[/b'>. BIG MISTAKE. I never knew that British Indian food is soooooooo different from acutal indian food! I can't believe they are still in business. We paid 167dhs for 2 portion of butter chicken (which by the way should have been called sugar chicken) 4 naan and a porion of tandoori chicken. Never again. edited by Irooni on 25/10/2011
