After yesterdays "woman cant work and have kids" debate....

I'm seriously considering starting some work "from home". There seems to be a lot of talented people (ladies) around that make items to sell. I am not talented!

So i was thinking something along the lines of Avon (but there is already people that do that here), BodyShop (but there are stores here), Ann Summers (for obvious reasons this is a no go!!)... you know the kind of thing im thinking.... so my question is What would you like to be able to buy here along these lines that you havent already got a "woman who sells this" - if you know what i mean??

My sister-in-law (in Australia) is an Enjo rep, loves her job and has done amazingly well financially out of it. She does it on a re-order basis and also does parties. http://www.enjo.com.au/ ENJO is already in Dubai. http://enjodubai.com/ I love my ENJO so much that I became a consultant when I moved home. :D

You can probably sell Pampered Chef. Not sure if the company wants you to sell it here but if you have a US mailing address or know someone who does and will let you use theirs, then it wouldn't be as difficult and certainly very possible. If anyone needs a us address, my sister will receive and remail for you. it's her very small business! I would be interested, how do I contact her? Also do you or anyone happen to know if its legal to hold these sorts of product parties here without a trade license of some kind?

I don't know if Dubai needs this or all the details exactly either (or it it already has it!) but I remember watching a news story about gold parties. Basically these people would set up these house parties where they'd invite say 10-15 people to bring their gold/jewelry, they'd then value it and exchange it with each other or sell it to the dealer, something along those lines anyway....

In Switzerland I went to a Partylight (I think it's American originally) event which is all about candles and their accessorizes. Even if a similar product exists in the shops if the actual product is slightly different then this is the selling point. In this case the candles burn for longer. Everyone at the evening bought some candles and all the candles inside my friends house for the event added to the special atmosphere!

Can you sell Pampered Chef in Dubai? I love their products and always made a purchase when friends hosted a party.

Tilly & Pinch is a fantastic option. Yes, they are still going strong and can be found both online and on Facebook. Purely Pearls is a well-established company in the Middle East that has just re-organized and now offer an opportunity to sell their range of product. They have cool jewelry all with pearls - very modern designs. They can be found on Facebook as it appears they are doing some work on their website.

There is a company, founded and owned by women here called (and I am racking my brains here to remember) Tilly and Pinch. They were setting up along the tupeprware method and were targeting specifiaclly some of the very many smart dedicated women who want to work and hone skills, but can't for whatever reasons, be it kids or whatever. Do a google search for them, or Facebook, see if they are still going. feel sure they will be as they were a couple of seriously smart women. They have a range of the most exquisite evening bags and clutches I have ever seen.

Ideas that come to mind are the good old fashioned 'tupperware', also in the UK there was 'Virgin Vie' partys which were not bad. A friend also ran 'jewellery' partys/home selling which was good for her. You might get more ideas looking at the US market as I think it's a bigger business over there. Good luck

Avon is well established. part of the Al Futtaim group. in my previous area we had at 2 reps . I think most of the stuff that we want hand made, we are able to get in the market stalls and with the flea market starting it has a huge range of handmade stuff. I did miss lovely hand made soaps until I found a lovely shop in Dubai Mall that sells them .. sorry I cant give you an ideas !
