Hi all,

For those of you living in Springs lake view villas, how do you find them? Have been looking at a couple this week and was wondering if you have issues with the following:
- mosquitos due to the water?
- odours due to stagnant water?
- lack of privacy?
- or anything else?
We have been in Springs but not lake view up to now so was just wondering if there are any disadvantages. We also have cats - would that be an issue?
Very grateful for any comments you lovely ladies may have!
TIA!

We lived on the small lake in Sp15 and never noticed a mosquito problem. The fountain was right in front of our villa and was great for when you had people over as provided a white noise for the neighbours so you couldnt hear the guests much until 10pm that is. Because it was a smaller lake we didnt get much passing traffic but if i wanted to sunbathe i would go behind the bamboo area that we put up as the gardeners like to hang around if they smell suncream.

We live in Springs 3 that has several different sized lakes but if I had to classify the size it would be medium sized to all that I've seen. It does have one fountain in the middle and we are located at the far end so I'm not sure how much affect it has on mosquitos and odor. Never really considered the fish keeping down the mosquitos as dramaqn suggested but it makes perfect sense. You may just want to spend an evening near the lake and see if you notice any odor or number of mosquitos before you make a decision. This time of year will give you a good idea of what the near worst case scenario would be.

Hi Mmmmmm We live in the Springs opposite a smaller lake and I agree totally with DXB Cinderella. No complaints re Mosquitos or odours. In fact we really love the sound of the fountain and previoulsy lived by a lake with no fountain which was very peaceful and no odour issues. Each lake had lots of fish so really helps control odour I think. As for privacy, we are happy with the trees we have at the bottom of the garden as seem more than adequate. Would much rather that than being back to back. We do have a cat too who wonders in and out with no problems. We know when a dog is around though as he looks like an olympic sprinter on his dash back though the garden ;) Overall I would definitely go for lake view every time. Good Luck!:)

Oh wow DXB Cinderella, Thanks so much for your response. This really is very helpful. Do you mind me asking if you are in front of one of the larger lakes with the fountain or one of the smaller lakes? The ones we have seen so far are facing the smaller lakes. This really is good to know - thanks again for your detailed message!

Hello Mmmmmm, I was once in the exact predicament a couple of years ago. We moved from a non-lake view to lake view Springs villa. Although the lake view had nothing to do with our choice of villa. It was based on the price of a bigger villa at the time. But I'll do my best to answer your questions. - mosquitos due to the water? Surprisingly I haven't noticed a change in number of mosquitos as I was expecting it to be much worse. - odors due to stagnant water? Again surprisingly really haven't noticed any out of the ordinary odors. The fountains do a good job of moving water to keep odor and mosquitos down…Not to mention look pretty :) - lack of privacy? This on the other hand is something I didn't care for. I like my privacy and everyone that's using the path around the lake can look inside. There were bushes planted along our fence so we just let them grow taller. For the most part problem solved. But not having a villa directly behind you makes things feel more open and less claustrophobic. We also have a cat and eventually closed the open fence with some plant climbing fence from Ace Hardware to keep him in the garden. It is very nice being close to the lake for the ease of using the paths. Taking family walks in the evening have drastically increased since the move. If I had to choose again I would defiantly go for the lake view as the good outweigh the bad. Hope this helps.

Thanks dramaqn, I never considered the dog walkers - may not be the best if we have 2 cats... The lakes that these particular villas are facing are actually the smaller lakes so do not have fountains so Im afraid the stench may be an issue... I didnt know if there are fish in the water, that this has an effect on mosquitos? You learn something new every day :) Tnx again

I don't live in Springs but visit often and noticed that you might face all things you've mentioned although there is fish in the lakes, so mosquitos will be less and there are fountains in some lakes, so fresh (or filtered water) is pumped in. Another thing you need to be aware is dog walkers, so be ready to listen to some barking
