So my neighbour was super surprised that I actually used tap water for cooking. She's fairly new in Dubai - 5 years. And said none of the peoiple she knows cook with tap water. So I was telling her I've never even thought of it since I grew up here. When I was a kid, Mum would just boil the tap water and we would drink. Ofcourse now we use mineral water for drinking and I use it if I'm specifically making someting for my DS. And the tap water that is used in my cooking is boiled since I make curries and dals etc.
Am I doing something wrong?

Anything that will be boiled ( hot drinks, pasta etc ) always tap water. Sometimes when I run out of bottled water, I just boil the kettle, let it cool, then put in a jug in fridge to drink. I also make ice cubes with tap water.

Maybe I'm insane but I don't use tap water for cooking, except for washing vegetables. I came here whereas I was pregnant and I couldn't stand the smell of the tap water, that's why I continue using bottled water for cooking.

Tap for cooking. I prefer to drink straight from the tap but DH does not like it. He doesn't get his way very often so I let this one slide ;)

I drink and cook from the tap. We got one of those filter jugs that goes in the fridge, but that was only because I wanted the water colder. I still can't tell the difference in taste.

For potatoes, pasta,... anything you don't really 'eat' the water, I use tap water. For soups and sauces I use bottle water. Hmm, maybe I am insane... But pasta takes up water. :D True...

I use tap water for cooking. Apparently it is also safe to drink straight from the tap (I don't) it just has a slight taste to it
