We are currently looking at 4 or 5 br villas in the Meadows. If you are currently or had lived there previously, can you share what was the monthly bills like?

We are looking at a 4 or 5 bedroom with pool and garden. So just wondering what the DEWA and Empower (or other chiller company that run The Meadows ac) like.. Much appreciated. Many thanks!

Thank you for your replies.. much appreciated. We believe that just because we can, financially, it doesn't mean that we should not asses if its justified or not. Just trying to make an informed decision. We looked at Jumeirah Golf Estate as well and loved it. Now, we are trying to do the pros and cons against Meadows/Lakes before deciding. Again, many thanks! Cheers! It has to be said - if you have enough money to consider those sorts of villas, you shouldn't be worrying about how much the utility bills will cost :) If you're cooling every bedroom of a 5-bed villa in the summer, plus running a pool chiller etc, don't be surprised to be paying 5000 AED-plus per month. We know several people who pay that much and more.

We live in a 4 bed with pool (incl. heater & chiller) in meadows. Currently the bill is around 2.4k. In the height of summer it will probably be 3-3.3k and in winter around 2k. This includes housing fee of around 1000.

Madge_gustard you must have a lovely cool home to be paying 5000 dhs per month to dewa! We have been in a 5 bedroom meadows home for 7 years and the Dewa bill averages out around 1500 per month, much less in the winter and a bit more in the summer. We have a pool but not with chiller. 4 kids so all rooms used! so you are not including the Municipality fee on that as mine is 700 dhs + a month. I am in the Lakes in a much smaller house now than the Meadows and the last bill was 1700 so nearly 1000 dhs for DEWA alone. That is only the room on where I am and then 2 bedrooms at night. Don't know how you do it - when we were in the big Deema ( over 2 years ago ) it was 2000 dhs in the Summer months - again on the same basis as now.

Madge_gustard you must have a lovely cool home to be paying 5000 dhs per month to dewa! We do have a lovely cool home, but we don't live in the Meadows and our DEWA bill is about 600-700 AED per month. But we do know people in Meadows villas who *are* paying 5000 AED per month and more. We have been in a 5 bedroom meadows home for 7 years and the Dewa bill averages out around 1500 per month That's not going to be representative of what a new tenant paying 2014 rents will pay, though, is it? As I mentioned earlier, given the typical rents that 4/5-bed Meadows villas are going for *now*, the housing fee *alone* will cost over 1200 AED per month, before any usage of water or electricity.

This Bill is really low we pay 1400 excluding municipality tax for a 3 bedroom villa in Mirdif ( summer ) all ACs are off during the day from 9 to 5 pm as the house is empty . Only 2 bedrooms are occupied and we have a very small garden no pool !

a normal bill for us is 1200 Based on the current typical rental prices for 4- and 5-bed Meadows villas, the housing fee alone will be over 1200 AED per month. If you're going to live in a large villa, you have to be prepared for high utility bills. It's just part of the deal. Maybe you'll be lucky and get surprisingly small bills (some people do), but many others really are paying 5000 AED per month and upwards. edited by Madge_Gustard on 16/05/2014
