What is wrong with these stores and their choice of music?

I was in Roxy in Dubai Mall today and they had Black and Yellow thumping out.

The lyrics are obvious when you listen to it and if you read the lyrics there are 4 "n**gas", 2 "ho's" (not in a santa sense) and 2 effs.

Luckily my kids weren't in there with me because the store sells kid's clothing and I really don't want my 6 year old hearing that. And why are they playing these songs here?

I use bad words but at least I choose when to say them, and in front of my kids is not the time I choose.

Trouble is you also have to bear in mind that the album/download versions aren't edited. You specifically have to go and source edited versions of tracks and there's virtually nothing without any form of expletive in it at the moment - unless you buy a Glee cd.

Maybe because a lot of people don't really understand the lyrics? I've noticed that non native speakers of English , sometimes don't get the lyrics at all, they just like the music and the beats. Language in rap/hip hop music tends to go over most people heads. Having said that, if the store attendant knew what he was doing was wrong, then it's good that you complained about it.

I'm guessing a lot of people don't actually pay attention to the lyrics. I find the music in most shops extremely annoying and way too loud although saying that makes me sound like my Mum! 'If I wanted to go to a Disco then that's where I'd go. I'm here to buy clothes not dance and shake my a**' She once told a shop assistant back home with me standing next to her. I was a teenager at the time and horrified :\: Now I have to stop myself from saying the same!

Yep. I asked him if he thought f*** was a swear word and when he blushed I asked why he thought it was acceptable to play music with that word in their store. I got a "Sorry ma'aaaaam, it won't happen again ma'aaaaam" Uh huh.

No idea. Did you say anything? I always do. Mind you even the version playing on the radio says 'smoke weed'.
