Love Magnolia too and that Italian cafe next to the Aquarium in the Dubai Mall does some fantastic cakes.

I got a chocolate cake with fondat for my oldest's birthday from Cho coa, they only have 3 cake flavors to choose from and it was good. BUT my all-time favorite is from Magnolia Bakery in Dubai Mall, we got a chocolate cake w chocolate frosting and it was AMAZING. I don't want to get a birthday cake anywhere else now. They have more of a selection and they are cheaper than Cho Coa.

I second Cho coa. Have had a lot of cakes from them and their chocolate cake is superb. It also freezes well even with the foundant left on.

I just posted on the other cakes thread so kinda overkill but same ans applies. I got a whole cake from Lime Tree last week. Don't know if they customise them for birthdays though. Thinking i'd like one for my hubby's birthday in Oct so please post when you find one...

The food hall in Galleries Lafayette has some stunning cakes. If you want to make one, I made this lemon meringue cake for DHs birthday and it's really delicious (and not as hard as it sounds) http://www.marthastewart.com/332925/lemon-meringue-cake

Bakemart in choithrams - greens Got a 4kg lighting mcqueen shaped cake with choc ganache filling at 100aed per kg (it looked fantastic and was very very tasty) btw you can choose your filling then two tiered fondant covered fancy cake for 90 aed per kg (i think min a 3 kg) (an absoluet absoluet bargain) - Then you can get square or rectangular cakes from around 60aed per kg for about 90aed you can get a picture cake (rectangular) you can still add some 3d effects to the top and toys - if u go there they will show you pics of cakes they ahve done and the best part - you can order one day before - and it would be ready in the morning! wish i had found them sooner - they are reasonable in price and very tasty! Hi there.. can you please give me some advise on good bakeries or where i can get a good "yummy" bday cake for my hubby. Thanks! :)

Instead of a cake, why dont you go to Sugar Daddy's or Kitsh cupcakes and get a giant cupcake? They are to die for, my favorite is the red velvet......I think i've just put on a kilo just thinking about it! They do personalize it too, so you can go in and tell them what you want. http://www.kitschconcept.com/ (page 4)
