just wondering if you got any support ? or if you just went for it and bathed the baby! hope you are enjoying motherhood and growing in confidence each day.

I third the fischer price with hammock! Its awesome!
Don't b scared OP! Try it once with DH's help and once you see how much the LO enjoys being bathed, it'll soon become your fav chore :)
Good luck!
I second RosyPosy's idea. I bought the Fisher price bath at Mothercare (comes with a stand and a net for the baby to lie on) and it made things so much easier. The net was wide enough to hold her and she was suspended above the water. For the first few days, I sponged her while she was lying on the net and as I got confident, I started putting warm water over her very slowly. Once your baby outgrows the net and has head control, you can seat the baby in the bath tub (there is a small seating area at a recline) for the bath.
Dont be scared. :)

Hi, I was really nervous too. We bought a baby bath with a sling/hammock attached, and it made a HUGE difference to us - I felt so much more confident. No need to hold her as the sling does all the supporting, although of course you will have your hands on her too. If you google FisherPrice Ocean Wonders Deep Sea Bath Tub you will see what I mean. We got ours from Mothercare, was pricey though. We bathed DD from the start and she loved it, enjoyed the warmth of the water and it relaxed her for sure. We bathed the cord area from the start as advised by the hospital. Didn't use any soap or anything like that for weeks, just a tiny few drops of olive oil - their skin is so new and the oil and water was perfect for her. Take care x
I didn't bath DS until he was about two weeks old! I was utterly petrified and made DH do it. They're so tiny and slippery and I couldn't go anywhere near the cord.
You'll be fine with one of the lovely ladies helping you out :). Your confidence will grow as you go along.
hi there
I live in JLT and would be happy and am free today or tomorrow to come round and show you how to bath your LO. I know it can be overwhelming at first but once shown you will be fine and confident- also do not worry about the cord as long as it is clean and dry it will be fine and fall off soon. I am a doula & midwife my email address is

Hi Inza
I can't help you today, but I could come in on Saturday and Sunday if that would suit you.
Remember that your baby doesn't know that you haven't done all this stuff before but is happy with having your love. Just give the baby a good wash over with cotton wool and warm water until you get help. As far as caring for the cord goes, it doesn't matter what you do to it (ie washing it, not washing it, putting powder on etc) it will still come off in it's own time - so if you hate touching, don't. It will get smelly and may bleed a little before it falls off but this is perfectly normal.
Enjoy the baby, don't be frightened, and get as much rest as possible when baby is slepping.
If you need me to come round on Saturday or Sunday call or text me. zero 5 zero 5 zero 8 4975.
:)
I suggest you try contacting a doula who provides post birth support helping with all aspects of baby care for new mothers who give support as you need it. Try Doulas of Dubai or Dubai Doulas who may be in your area. Search Doulas on the web whoch will give you all the options and contact details. best of luck..
If I was closer I would definately offer to come help you.
It does seem very scary at first, but seriously...these tiny ones are quite hardy ;-)
You could, as another poster suggested, wait for your husband to help. Otherwise, why not just fill a small bowl up with water and top and tail baby for the time being?

The link I posted will explain everything
If youre worried (as we all were with our first babies) I would wait untill DH comes home, that way he can help.
Congratulations x
