So I've heard that near the end of their pregnancy, alot of women dont drive.
My husband doesnt want me to after my 7th month incase I get pains or contractions or something while driving, and my tummy would get in the way!
What is people's usual reason for not driving? And when did you stop driving in your pregnancies?

I meant in the exact same circumstances (but with her as a passenger), just curious as to whether her pregnancy was considered a factor given the title of the article. Yes, most probably her pregnancy was considered as an important factor in causing an accident (we won't know the whole truth, will we?). But if under same circumstances, she was a passenger and someone else was a driver who caused the accident, her and her unborn child would be victims and driver would probably have to pay blood money to the family.

I wonder if she had been a passenger instead if the driver would have been charged? I stopped driving at around 37 weeks as I nearly had a car accident, which would have been my fault, due to extreme tiredness. I made the decision and I was happy with that decision. I also had that story that Kiwispiers has posted in my mind. My next pregnancy, not sure when I'll stop driving as with a little one it might not be as easy. But safety is paramount.

There is no such law here in the UAE, but there is a law against killing any human being (even it being a foetus)

I didn't stop driving with my 3 either but I was told that there is a law here that you shouldn't drive after 7 months. It was CID at work that told me but I haven't been able to find the law.

Same. Day before I was admitted. I also had a C-section and was driving 5 days after the op. No choice in Geneva.

Not till my baby came along :). To be fair, he was 3 weeks early and we were least expecting it. I would say, go with your gut. As long as you are comfortable and feel confident, drive :)

you don't need to stop driving so long as you can comfortably do so, there might actually be a law against it though, I have a vague memory of reading about a women in the UAE who was charged with the death of her unborn child after being involved in an accident?? I personally wouldn't want to drive any great distance alone in the week or so before my due date.

I agree with dramaqn. I never stopped driving during any of my three pregnancies (even though my tummy was huge as well). ;)

Never stopped driving with both of my children :) Thanks god, both pregnancies were a breeze and I love driving. IMHO, I would say don't drive if you don't feel comfortable/confident or don't feel well.

I didn't stop with either of mine, and I was huge! The only car-related issue I had with pregnancy was when I was almost 9 months pregnant with DD and some berk parked so close to my car in MOE I had to clamber over the passenger seat to get in.
