Can anyone let me know of somewhere to go that has a nice, close-ish view of burj al alab at night? I've seen some lovely photos like [url=http://www.nationsencyclopedia.com/travel/images/images/iStock_000002265... one[/url] which looks to be in madinat jumeirah (anyone know which restaurant?) and always wonder where they're taken from.

Also, is there a public (free!) beach nearby that's open at night?

Beachcombers restaurant at the Jum. Beach hotel has one of the best views of the Burj. It also has direct access to the beach. Haven't been there for ages so can't comment on the food.

Dome is nice too, just completely different setting, it`s a coffe shop. It`s rather down below, right on the walk next to Trader Vic`s, italian resto and whole bunch of other places, next to the water-canal where traditional abras and plenty of people walking-by, really, really lovely on the weekends. It isn`t the best location if you want to take pictures, though. More elevated venues like Bahri, Agency at night will have fantastic views.

Shimmers at Mina A Salam or Villa Beach at the Jum Beach Hotel. Shimmers is in Entertainer Fine Dining, sadly Villa Beach isn't this year.

Cheap or expensive? You can't go past DOME for a good value 'cafe' style meal at Madinat. Either by the window or out in the courtyard - weather permitting of course. So many lovely options at Madinat and many with some vista! OR... Jumeirah Beach Hotel... lots of their f & B outlets face onto the Burj Al Arab... or maybe fish n chips on the beach>? Enjoy!

Maybe walk around Madinat Jumeirah (if possible) and scout them out? Places where the Meat Co etc have views. The beach to the north of BAA is free, public and open.
