..pine nuts (chilgozas, as we desis call them) in the shell? Haven't seen them anywhere in Dubai. I have only come across shelled ones, which don't taste as fresh.

There's a nuts and seeds shop called Bhatkal on the road opposite the Dubai Museum (Bur Dubai). I've seen pine nuts with the shell there. You'll also find them in most Iranian shops. I've also seen them in Global Village - in the Iranian pavilion. I love pine nuts as well - especially the ones from Pakistan! But they're horribly expensive here.

Thanks for the tips Princess & crystals. I will check if I can find them there. We don't go to that side of the city much. If not, I think I can wait till November :D edited by Curls on 09/09/2011

On the shop front opposite the Gold Souq bus station in Deira, there are a number of Iranian shops selling all kinds of nuts and seeds.

Have you tried the spice souk? I would *think* that this would be the best place to look or even to see if you can get some imported.
