Disgusting behaviour last night

Last night some friends and I went to a popular pub for a few drinks. Sitting at a table across from us was a guy/girl who were in a booth. The girl was getting a bit too close for comfort to the guy and we then realized that she was (witthout a doubt) a working girl. At first the lone guy seemed a bit overwhelmed by her but gave in. He would not make any eye contact with anyone (for obvious reasons!). As the night wore on, she became more aggressive in her advances and by the end they were pawing each other and engaging in such disgusting behaviour that I was tempted to tell them to go get a room! Others were noticing too and were also in utter disbelief. At first I didn't know if she was a working girl but then I could see she was with 2 other girls who were watching her/talking to her from another table. Eventually I went over to the bouncer and explained the situation. He was watching them for awhile and then when they started laying down in the booth, he came over and spoke to them. That broke it up for a little bit but soon she was at it again! I have to admit I was so shocked! I have never seen such a thing here before. I asssumed the girl (and the guy) would be nervous of the repercussions of getting arrested, especially because most of what they were doing was clearly "illegal" behaviour for UAE. Have you ever seen such a thing?!

@ spongmonkey .. your right!!! I have seen more hookers here then anywhere in the USA !!! even Bangkok. Where are you hanging out? I know that they exist here, but I have never come across one! edited by AnonDubai on 01/10/2011 Well I certainly don't go to clubs but you see them in most hotels in and around the foyers and as someone else said they are sometimes in abayas. You come across them in lifts in /around JBR. There are masses of them in the various Tecom hotels too. Maybe that is why I don't see them. I have never stayed in a hotel in Dubai and I avoid JBR.

At The Talk yesterday a couple were in a very deep clinch, full view for most to see. A security guard approached them, not sure what was said but as he walked away the couple went in for another kiss. and am sure when they end up in court it will only be a kiss on the cheek!!

not illegal if the pub has a licence you might be wrong about that what about the story of the British tourist who had been out drinking, lost his passport and went to the police station to report this and ended up being arrested for being intoxicated by liquor!!? edit to say, on reflection he may have been arrested for being outside of a legally licenced establishment whilst intoxicated, which would make drinking LEGAL if you were on the premises of the bar/hotel which has a licence edited by sarahkay686 on 01/10/2011 edited by sarahkay686 on 01/10/2011

not illegal if the pub has a licence not to go off topic.... But how many of you ladies actually have a liquor license, AND carry it with you out to the pub each time? and actually, unless you are staying in the hotel it is not legal to drink there - liquor licence allow you to buy and consume at home...... :) (not that i'm splitting hairs)

Men are propositioned in most of the 5* hotel elevators by "ladies" wearing abayas (no they're not Arab). If management at the venue the OP was at was half hearted - to a certain extent I can understand - which establishment wants to be on CID's radar. However, that said, if it made me uncomfortable (coming from a university/navy town) I'd insist managment did something to stop it and if it didn't happen, I'd call the cops. Not popular I'm sure, but why should I put up with neanderthals in a public venue where such behavior is illegal (even in my home town).

I was referring to the moral side of drinking, in muslim tradition it is illegal. Hence many find it disgusting. About the western country comment, I meant if you go to a bar in Rome/London/Paris/etc you see more obviously dressed (non-dressed...) and more obviously behaving prostitutes. I just imagined how the OP would be outraged!! edited by dentro on 01/10/2011 I've seen more prostitutes here than anywhere else!

Hi ladies, just to clarify, I was shocked at the fact that the heavy petting was going on in front of everyone in public! I don't mind seeing people kiss or show affection to one another as we are all used to this in our home countries where it is legal. Last year 2 people were deported as a local lady complaied to police that they had kissed in public and this was debated in court. But to see groping and other "stuff" was shocking to me because it is clearly flaunting the moral laws here. I was personally disgusted as were many others but the fact that they didn't mind risking it is another thing. Then again maybe a blind eye is turned because it is in a more "Western' establishment.

Just go on OP and don't wrry about the rest. i think sandy confused me - i thought the OP was complaining about the couple at it, not drinking...which she must have been doing herself or she wouldn't have been in a pub !! lol... need coffee i think.... lol Ah sooorrrryyy I few of us derailed it into the drinknig thing. Regards the behaviour, you do see it all the time. I think the bouncers get used to tappig people on the shoulder and saying 'no, kiss, no touch' lol

Why would people who find alcohol consumption disgusting spend their time in licensed bars?

dentro, I think many people from EVERYWHERE find excessive drinking bad behaviour unacceptable. agree. i just pointed out that OP started her post by saying she was drinking (probably not excessively) which is also morally incorrect by some, even in moderation. But she was drinknig in a legally licensed establishment, therefore the comment I feel was unwarranted. It's not for others to impose their moral thoughts on others.

Last night some friends and I went to a popular pub for a few drinks. Drinking is also illegal here and considered disgusting by many. erm then you're not going to find those people in a fully licensed and LEGAL drinking establishment are you? Is Nelson's not licenced ? I see the single women in there... though who would want to be them when you see the state of the fat, balding, middle aged expats leaning on the bar stinking of fag smoke... very attractive LOL !! Of course it's licensed. I was referring to Dentro's comment that drinking is illegal and pointing out that in a licensed premises, it is not illegal. Cripes can you magine the sheer amount of revenue that would be lost if boozing was made illegal! Also I object the the flippant comment about Wetsern countries - how rude! I can assure you I've seen appalling behaviour here committed by plenty of NON-westerners. erm who are the biggest users of ladies of the night? edited by Chocs01 on 01/10/2011
