China, we all have so much to say about it ... human rights, animal rights, sweat shops, poor quality goods etc etc. Sadly 'Made in China' is everywhere, not just in Karama! Of course it's everywhere...and Karama is not trading only on Chinese torture. It's just that the horror is concentrated in Karama and I cannot fathom why otherwise intelligent people shop there for 'fakes' .

Yes that video is pretty old, but it still doesn't stop the horror. I simply can't watch it again. Even clothes from CHina where labels state the fur is fake or fur of non-descript origin is either racoon dogs or domestic dogs and cats. Basically anything that is fur lined is likely to be this. A huge reason to avoid Karama and places like Dragon Mart - you're only fueling this sickening trade. <em>edited by Chocs01 on 05/10/2011</em>

I was always curious and nearly went a few times just for a look, but the whole concept makes me sick. :( Ooh...hang on, I did go to the Karama Post Office once. ;) Different area really... :)

The original video from which that first still was taken is years old. From (distant) memory, I saw it after PETA released it as part of the continuing anti-fur coat lobby. It would be at least ten years ago (20??) that I first saw it...it's burned into my brain forever. :( I know helpless animals are being brutalised in a way I cannot fathom here, but really it's all just part of the "fake" trade. Whether it's animals skinned alive or children cruelly exploited for fake handbag manufacturers (then of course there's computer parts, chocolate companies, diamonds...) Until we educate ourselves and buy ONLY from reputable sources, these grubs will still have a reason to exploit/abuse. Just seeing that picture again, I fair nearly threw up on my computer (which is probably full of parts made by 8yr olds sleeping on cement floors. :( ).

Well actucally what a news crew did, cause a video like this got leaked, is tested fur off labels that were labeled 'synthetic' fur...which i would believe to be man made but no-- the fur tested had the animal dna and it was these poor raccoon dogs.... poor things....peta has a video and information on this also..... i do eat meat, but this is just horrible....cant imagine it.....

You'd be surprised just how much they get away with...and how weird their "technicality loopholes" are...a close friend of mine is in the Fur Coat business, and has told me some seriously horrifying stories...its a huge market in China...they pretty much rule the world when it comes to skins/furs and make up rules as they go along to whatever suits them

I'm too scared to open the link...but my imagination pretty much made up for that...how horrendous. I will never ever comprehend how some people can be so heartless to animals....that and why animal lives are being looked down upon as something of less importance...a life is a life regardless which shape or form it has taken IMHO I just pray that i get to live and see the day that these heinous crimes are stopped.
