We have friends who have just informed us they'll be in Dubai in a couple of weeks and want to see us on the Friday. Said friends are both unemployed and currently travelling so money is sparse! Any idea where we can take them for a decent brunch that is less than 300dhs each (alcohol package)? I know DH will end up picking up the bill so don't want him to end up spending a fortune. Thanks in advance ladies!

Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel. If you have the Entertainer book and have registered the card you get with it you can print off vouchers buy one get one free. Alcohol and non alcohol. Excellent food, drink and service. Beautiful place as well. Went to an Iftar at the Gate and the food was really awful, put us off going back to try the brunch so good to hear a recommendation for the brunch.

A friend told me AOC is nice & good value. If you want our entertainer vouchers for that (includes buffet) let me know.

We also enjoyed the Pullman but at the time the only beer they had was Amstel Light, no option. Sofitel Hotel at JBR has a restaurant called AOC which has a great bubbly brunch with really fresh and fabulous seafood plus all the usual suspects, a classy atmosphere and good service.

We went to the Pullman yesterday with vouchers for bubbly brunch (normally 325 but paid 199). However, we had extra people with us who didn't have vouchers and who had the normal hops and grapes option and it was only 190AED which I think is a great deal! The restaurant is a bit boring (decor wise) but the terrace has great views of both Burjs and you could ask to sit out there if cool enough. The food was good and had all the usual suspects including outdoor bbq grill with large prawns, lamb etc; seafood; sushi; tandoori; arabic; mediterranean; fantastic cheeses etc. Plenty of choice just a little less choice than some of the more expensive brunches. And they had an amazing chocolate room too! We will probably go back when taking our family visitors at Xmas due to price.

Thank you all! Good to see it is possible! I'll speak to DH about Meydan (he has been before) and see what he thinks- thank you! Movenpick is right by us as we are in JBR so that could be a good option. Is the Rotana limited on drinks available? We have been to 2 Rotanas and were offered house wine, Fosters, vodka, gin or whisky and the men all ended up bloated and full of Fosters within an hour! I'm a cocktail lover too! don't think it involves cocktails just the normal grape varieties and spirits

I've got 3 Cobone vouchers for half-price brunch (197 instead of 395) at the Meydan which are valid for 60 days after purchase, which was 13.10.2011, if that would help?
