I am lost for the many options available and would like to hear your experiences ladies for spending a 5 days holiday with 2 kids (6 & 3) in December. It is a holiday for the kids so not concerned about the luxury/relaxation part of it and will not mind if it comes with the package :)

Actually i have never been to Sri Lanka, just that i was hearing of quite a few people visiting there, and i know the weather should be good in December given its location a bit above the equator !

Nutty, have great time. Quite jealous as have just come back and left just as all decorations were being erected in Orchard Rd and it felt really atmospheric. Let us know how you get on as I would love to do same next year. We loved zoo, duck tour, art science museum, botanical gardens, universal and highlight which was night safari. Food was amazing - Peking duck at Paragon - think it was called sthg like "imperial super Peking duck" was fab as was golden palace at same mall. Newton centre also good. Enjoy.

Personally i wouldnt want to go to KL/Singapore as its hot and humid even in December and i wouldnt want to visit a place on vacation where the weather would be less pleasant than in Dubai ! In December a lot of places have near perfect weather, that includes Thailand, Sri Lanka, Southern India, Sharm Shaikh, Oman, and i would guess Hong Kong as well. It may be betetr to go one of them rather than a place like KL which would feel great going from a Dubai summer but would feel hot and sticky going from the wonderful Dubai days of 20-25C I have heard of a lot of ppl going to sri lanka recently and dont think it would be too expensive

We are off to Singapore for xmas, rainy season and off peak. Lots for bubs. Flights were on the cash plus miles for EK 8000miles plus 1500aed or singapore airlines for 2400aed. Hotels about 400/500aed a night. Food dirt cheap as is transport and admissions are reasonable. I love Singapore Have a great time :-)

I have asked around about December holiday in KL and the feedback I got was that it will be very crowded as it is the peak season. I can not cope in a crowdy environment with the kids. So may not consider Malyasia as a holiday destination Thank you ladies for the idea, will defenitly keep KL as a strong option for the next holiday. For now I am still in the look for a holiday destination for this December...anyone?

GoodMorning, sunway lagoon looks like alot of fun! thanks for sharing. If you go to KL, you could also take your children to: 1. bird park - http://klbirdpark.com/ 2. Petrosains, The Discovery Centre - http://www.petrosains.com.my/ 3. Aquaria - http://www.aquariaklcc.com/ (There is a playground and KLCC park near Aquaria for your children to play) 4. Lake garden - http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g298570-d451263-Reviews-Lake_Gardens_Park-Kuala_Lumpur_Wilayah_Persekutuan.html 5. Camping /Trekking - http://openskyunlimited.com/v1.0/ Whenever we are back in KL, we prefer to stay at service apartment. We usually stay at either PNB Darby Park or Fraser Place. Anyway, you can also refer to Tripadvisor guide. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g298570-Kuala_Lumpur_Wilayah_Persekutuan-Hotels.html

wow ladies, thanx! fairwater, I will look at the Hilton, haven't thought of Egypt for a holiday. nutty - any specific hotel in KL? Mariana - tis looks excellent! it is going to be cold in Romania isn't it? Appletiser - we've been to capetown a while back and loved it. But will want to do something different. Yes , it will be cold but with some thermal undercloths and jackets it will be perfect to play in the snow !

We stayed at Traders in centre of KL then walked everywhere or mrt but would also suggest island of Langkawi if you could stomach the internal flight with 2 bubs. We went with Air Asia and found their connections cheap and at good times for us.

hilton sharks bay is fantastic and great for kids i think its got 2 kids clubs, we preferred the hotel part with the gigantic pool that was across the road from the beach hotel side as the rooms were bigger, pool far better too, more room. the pool is huge, have a look on trip adviser and look at the professional pictures - the pool is massive. the food when we were there was great, all buffet style and lots of choice each day a different theme, and as its all in you can eat drink anywhere in the whole resort. theres a shuttle bus that goes all around the resort if you dont feel like walking. the kids can go anywhere from 6am till around 2am apart from 1 bar/disco. there are lots of families there, we dont have small kids with us anymore, but we could see the children there having fun. we enjoyed it even without children. was really nice. fun touches like staff making hanging monkeys or boats from towels in the rooms, all staff were really lovely. well we really enjoyed it. and the snorkeling was fantastic. <em>edited by fairwater on 10/11/2011</em>

KL,plenty of parks, indoor activities and its rainy season so think wellies and puddles. Normally great deals at this timeof year,i think 7 hours on plane though well worth it. Malays very child friendly people and cheap to eat and do activities.

forgot to mention that it will be the first time to travel with both kids and so would prefer a short flight (6 hrs max).
