that I can buy here in Dubai? Our trainers slip on marble and we don't want to take any chances as we are travelling in really cold weather. Would appreciate any help. TIA

You could try Timberland for boots similar to Caterpillar Yes Timberland have similar ones orr some of the regular shoe shops tend to sell the Caterpillar ones.

Thanks SwissSandy. Do you know if there are any Caterpillar stores here in Dubai? Both DH and I are so thin blooded we've decided on 2 pairs of socks each, everyday - we found London cold in December, so pretty sure, we are going to look like a couple of Michelin Men in Beijing!! You were unlucky with the weather in London last December - apparantley it was the coldest one since 1890 with the average temp being 3.4C - it is usually much milder than this. I second Timberland - I had a pair that I used last Xmas that got me through two weeks of snow and ice without a slip up.

In Switzerland if I was spending any sort of time outside in winter (even without snow) I was always using my snowshoeing shoes which are basically warm walking shoes. Not sure if they sell them here but if not then in the UK I used to wear a pair of Caterpillar boots with thick socks or 2 pairs of socks. Caterpillar boots are not usually lined. I never slipped on the wet snow with those ;)
