Hi

For those of you making your own romantic Valentines dinners, what are you making?

I'm looking for inspiration.

I'm thinking a boullabaisse fish stew followed by chocolate pots. Not sure whether to have a starter or not.

Actually, curry and a bottle of fizz has always been our tradition too. I don't know why I'm getting all ambitious this year!! I think I want to mark it as hubby is completely ignoring the occasion. Is it wrong to use a romantic meal to show him up? Not really in the spirit of things. Thanks for your replies. Happy Valentine's FFxx

But today is my birthday so as usual V day gets eclipsed, just finishing a bottle of Verve and still trying to decide where to go out to eat :-) Nothing like pre planning eh! :-)

Was going to do surf and turf (lobster and steak) and ceasar salad which is our traditional stay at home VD dinner. But I'm pregnant and don't think I'm up to the mess and smell of cooking whole live lobster so now think we're going to have a champagne shrimp pasta instead.

DH working nights, so 'romantic' dinner for me and DS ..... next free eve mother in law will be here and want taking out! Last year DS (aged 11) cooked us dinner, steak and chips and then took himself and his dinner off to the study so we could be 'alone'! Bless

Hearts of palm for starters (or of course, oysters!); Coquilles Saint-Jacques for main; Coeur a la creme in heart shaped mould for pud, or heart shape palmiers with pears, ginger and chocolate. ETA: I'm on my own tomorrow; the above are just suggestions for what I might have done :) edited by simpleasabc on 13/02/2011 Feel free if you want to cook for me cause I'm on my own as well. DH is in Doha!

FFx Wish DH was going to be here... think I'll have a candlelit supper for one as he's off to Greece tomorrow but he has promised to make it up to me and I have already been asked what would I like as a gift and where would I like to eat.... for a man who usually forgets most occasions I am so far impressed with the effort!

We're having: [u'>Starter[/u'> Jumbo shrimps with garlic, fresh chilli and sour cream [u'>Main Course[/u'> Beef Wellington with roasted winter veggies [u'>Dessert[/u'> Chocolate fondant with cream All washed down with some champers :) It will make a refreshing change from our usual effort of burgers & wedges!!

we are having a big seafood feast. Massive prawns and lobster and crab and mussels washed down with a bottle of Verve Cliquot I went into Waitrose today and they have some valentines decorations and packs of balloons. A nice little added extra to set the mood. Still so cheap compared to what you would spend going out to eat....
