Hi. I am 12 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I went for test for Downs Syndrome to be told that was clear but my baby has an enlarged bladder. I then went for genetic testing for Edward Syndrome which I am waiting for the results of. Has anyone here ever had this problem? If so, was treatment available here and what is the success rate?

Happy4, are you going to the fetal medical centre? the reason i ask is i went there for my 12 week scan and was also told the same which is very worrying. by the 20 week scan at my doctors there were no signs of an enlarged bladder. my DS is now 9 months old, ahppy and healthy :)

Hello Misby007. Thank you for your reply. We got the results back from the genetic testing and it is all clear thank God so no Edward Syndrome. I have been attending the Fetal Clinic beside City Hospital. It is there that I am getting the scans done etc. We have an appointment there on the 19th March so fingers crossed things will have improved. Did you have to have surgery on your unborn baby in the UK? If so how was the outcome? Again thanks everyone for your support.

Hi Happy - didn't want to read and run. Sorry you are going through this. I had an issue identified at the 20 week scan here where one of the symptoms was an enlarged bladder. The issue I had was related to the baby's kidneys. Not sure who your OB is but I would recommend Dr. George Michalades who is at City H and specialises in early pregnancy scanning etc.. I found him to be amazingly supportive during this time for me, and was able to put me in touch with doctors in the UK (where I am from) in order to investigate further. I am not sure about Edward's syndrome as this was not the issue in my case. Please let me know if you would like to chat further - happy to post my email if needed.
