Hi ladies,

So after 5 long months I finally got a positive test last night, absolutely delighted but so scared and nervous at the same time.

I've made an appointment with Dr Sujata at Dubai mall medical centre for Thursday this week as I've seen her before for another issue and really liked her. Anyone else got any experience of her? What happens now, what should I be doing?

Still getting some cramps like AF is about to arrive but it was a definite BFP :)

Xxx

Thanks for your messages ladies, today went really well!!! We got to see our tiny little baby and hear its heartbeat. Doc measured it at 6+4 so last scan must just have been too early. So relieved xxx Congrats!!! You must have been crying tears of joy when you heard the heartbeat!! So glad it's all good.

Thanks ladies, I am trying to stay calm as nothing I can do but wait and see. I've been trawling the Internet and so many examples of it going either way. Only thing with me as well though is that I have an elongated sac which the doc says is abnormal so that's worrying me too. She also said for my hcg levels being 16,000 she should have been able to see something. Roll on Tuesday xxx edited by Cosmogirl on 24/05/2013

I am crossing everything for you that you get some good news. I had a similar thing a few weeks further along than you. Unfortunately for us it wasn't meant to be that time round. It's heartbreaking. I hope you get to hold a little bundle of healthy joy very soon x

i went for a scan at 5 weeks and the dr could not see anything. She saw the pregnancy sac, but no fetal pole. I was terrified and told to go back in 10 days. The next scan we saw and heard babys heartbeat. After reading a lot on the internet it is very rare to see a heartbeat at 5 weeks. I also had to do the blood tests and the hcg levels were going up (have a look at pregnancy blood test thread on this board) so i was very confused and worried too I went through a long 10 days but i tried to remain calm and chilled and had to think 'what will be, will be'. Thinking positive thoughts for you and got everything crossed.

Well ladies do you know I'm not actually too sure myself now, I went for an early scan roughly 5 and a half weeks because I'd been having some brown spotting and she told me there's no baby and my sac is elongated. She said there's defs no baby and prob for the best as not formed properly. I got blood tests taken and hcg levels had risen quite a bit from 16,000 to 23,700 in just under 48 hours so now she says maybe there's a small chance it'll be ok and have to go back for another scan next week. I was distraught after the scan but now I don't know what to think. I'm trying to stay positive but don't know whether I'm setting myself up for a fall again. Has anyone else experienced this at an early scan then it's been ok? I've still been feeling really tired and sick but have also still been having the brown spotting. It's been a hard week xxx

Congratulations Cosmo-girl! I wasn't very happy with Dr Sujata either - we went to her when we just found out for our first scan and she really scared us and said we needed to take 3 different medications to help support the pregnancy. We went to Dr George (very highly recommended on the forum) for a second opinion and he said we needed nothing but folic acid! A few weeks in and just the folic acid is working fine :-) Good luck!

Hi. Maybe we just got her on a few "off days" but she didn't seem to be completely with it. We got some scary news from our 12 week scan, the report was sent to her but she never got back to me about the report. She only read my notes when I was sitting in front of her. Whereas my new doctor is great, either herself or her midwife telephone me to check up on me and confirm results, she is always thinking a few steps ahead. Thank God we got good news but I will be sticking with Dr. Farnaz. As I said maybe we got the first doctor on an "off day" who knows. Best of Luck with your pregnancy.

Congrats to you on your fantastic news. I am almost 6 months and attended Dr. Sujata in Dubai Mall at the start but I ended up moving to Dr. Farnaz in Family First who is 100 time better and her midwife is excellent also. Its brillant for the first scan how you can hear your baby's heartbeat absolutely amazing.Enjoy your pregnancy.

We're 11 weeks along with our first! I was badly nauseated and tired from about week 7 to this week, but I think it's finally subsiding. I have another scan next weekend and I'm like a kid before Christmas about it. (You'll have to send an update on yours!) I was scared about twins too. They run on both sides of my family and my sister just found out she's expecting twins (they were going for their third and last child, ended up with twins). But we just have one little passenger in there. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I know the thought of one is kind of mind-boggling, let alone 2!

Ooohhh Littlelou you're getting me all excited here!! Can't wait for the scan!! I'm mildly scared there's going to be 2 in there as history of twins in both mine and husbands family and when I done my test it was a day or 2 before period was due in the evening and came up instantly with a really strong dark line. I've been feeling ok, pretty tired at night and a few waves of nauseousness but generally ok. Are you pregnant too or has your little one arrived now? Congrats, Cosmogirl! I know it's so exciting now and you want to know everything you can, but they will be able to tell you how far along you are with pretty high accuracy at your scan. It's so crazy that they just measure this little blobby thing on the screen and can say how far along you are and what the due date is. We nearly fell over with how much our little one grew between weeks 7 and 10 ... went from a scan of a "shadow" to a flipping, turning little baby who had waving hands and legs. Such an exciting time! Have you felt any sickness at all??

Had my appointment yesterday, doc was lovely and done a blood test to determine the hcg levels to see how far along I am. She also booked me in for a scan in 16 days time. Woo hoo not long to wait!!! Well my friend told me she used one of the digital tests that tell you how many weeks when she fell pregnant last year (she also lives in Dubai) but don't want to ask her where she got it from as not telling her the news for a while yet. Anyone else seen them anywhere? I feel like I want to keep testing just to make sure I'm still pregnant lol xxx edited by Cosmogirl on 10/05/2013

Congrats!!! If you just got a positive, I'd suggest rescheduling that apt for a couple weeks from now. They may do a scan and if you just got a + it's very likely your still very early along and therefore they won't see much. No need for an unwarranted and unnecessary miscarriage scare if they can't see anything simply because it's too soon. Other than taking folic acid, there really is nothing you need to be doing or no medical care that you need in the first trimester. It's pretty common in the States to not see a doctor until 10-12 weeks into a pregnancy.

Thanks ladies. Yeah I've been taking Pregnacare still we started trying so should I just continue on this? Or is there anything additional I should take? Still so shocked and doesn't feel real. Really want to get one of those digital tests that say how many weeks you are but they didn't have them in any shops near me. Anyone seen them anywhere? Xxx
