Hi Ladies,

Has anyone had a new water heater installed lately? If so, I'd be most grateful if you have any recommendations? I was recently told by our building maintenance that ours needed replacing as well as the copper pipe. I got an invoice from our management company for AED 1,800 - having never needed a new water heater, I'm not sure if this is reasonable or not.....

Thanks in advance.

Thanks ladies - your information has been very useful in helping me make an informed decision. I had no idea how much a water heater / copper wires etc actually cost until you guys helped out. I managed to get a contact from a friend and water-heater (with access) has been successful replaced for AED 850 all-in.....a saving of almost AED 1k!

That is an outrageous price. We bought the heater ourselves. Ariston, 50l Italian for dh 370, copper wires for dh 25 each. dh 200 for labour for a handyman.

Just had the kitchen one done. 500 for the water heater, no cost for labour as we have a contract. Master bathroom was done last year, 450 for the water heater. Took less than two hours in total, including cleaning. ETA: Just checked the receipt, paid an additional 50 dirhams to replace the pipe. edited by Daza on 15/02/2015

I had one of mine changed a couple of months ago following a leak. I have a maintenance contract with ToolTime so the labour was covered. The actual tank (100 litre) cost 600 AED and took less than 2 hours to fit. 600 AED per hour for labour sounds expensive.

Realistic. I had to change mine a year ago, it was 1500 aed with MPlus. I will never use mplus ever again though, it was a major pain with staying home 4 days over two weeks as they needed to come back multiple times to remove ceiling, put in boiler, put back ceiling, paint.
