I am six weeks pregnant. Got the shock of my life last week when I did a test and it popped up straight away. To say it wasn't planned would be understatement of the year, and I really didn't know how to feel about it to start with.

Anyway, I'm starting to get my head around it now but I had some bleeding last week and so far, I don't feel pregnant at all - totally different to when I had DS - so I'm not getting my hopes up. Did anyone else feel like this with their second pregnancy?

I was petrified it might be twins then I thought, bonus, I don't have to go through another pregnancy, but then I thought no way could I cope with two more in one go! I am taking lots of comfort from the gazillions of others who can cope with more than one child. And I'm trying not to think too hard about it...

I am still, however, utterly convinced I will be utterly incapable of caring for two babies! :D ach, nah, you'll muddle along just fine... like the rest of us, not knowing what day it is, what's for dinner (or when?! Scrambled eggs - think so!) or when exactly you completely lost the plot and decided to have kids in the first place!

Well, this one must just be totally different :). We had a scan yesterday and saw a strong heartbeat and all is OK. And I have started feeling sick, which I guess should be reassuring but is actually just a real pain in the butt. I am still, however, utterly convinced I will be utterly incapable of caring for two babies! :D

13 months between them?! OK, I feel better now! I'm still feeling absolutely nothing. My sister keeps telling me to stop worrying and every pregnancy's different, and I know she's right, but I can't help but think I should be feeling something by now :(. Oh yes - #2 pregnancy isn't going to be at all as special as #1. You may remember all though nice people telling you to sit down and take it easy, bringing you cups of tea and basically allowing you to kick back a bit and enjoy it? Nah, none of that this time. You won't have the time to feel all gooey and warm. You just get on with it. I still smile at the "no heavy lifting" thing... first pregnancy saw people offering to pick things up for me and me being really careful... second time around, I was carrying 12kg of toddler around on a daily basis!

My pregnancy was different to. Had all the symptons straightaway and found out with ds at 4 weeks. With dd didn't have anything till about 10 - 11 weeks. Also didn't find out till I was about 8 weeks...was in denial! Congratulations though and the thought of managing seems much worse than the reality. I fretted for the whole 9 months but the minute I saw dd it was love and obviously meant to be.

Similar situation for me. Took me almost 18 months to conceive with ds and I conceived dd2 when he was 4 only months. Shock would be an understatment! There is just under 13months between them, Dd is now 17months. Funnily enough when she was first born it was pretty easy, well as much as it can be. Now is a bit tougher as they are both mobile. They are good little pals though and play well together most of the time

Congrats DC! I totally know that feeling of shock! I kept trying to work out the dates since DH had spent literally 3 weeks out of the country on business, and the following 3 weeks he kept complaining of exhaustion. "WHEN did we manage to conceive????" DS was 1 year 4 months then. We had our best time with the 2 kids from when DS2 was 4 months old. by then we'd perfected a few coping techniques and DS2 was sleeping better and DS1 no longer felt compelled to sit on top of his little brother. I also started telling DS1 that everytime DS2 would look at him and say "A goo", he was saying "I love you". Also made a point of "telling off" the baby when DS1 did something naughty. would say, "NOw DS2, you need to know the rules in this house. Mama is not happy with DS1 because DS1 did this and that. Now DS1 will go to the thinking corner. DS2, when you become a big boy like DS1, and you do this and that, Mama will also send YOU to the thinking corner...." etc.

Congratulations! :D What exciting news... you'll get used to it! And two under 2 is fun... and sometimes it means it's much easier to get a daytime nap in when you're toddler is younger and you have a newborn! Each pregnancy can be very different - and what's more, each baby and postpartum experience can be VERY different... relax, enjoy, and celebrate! :D

PS Fun? It was practically an immaculate conception! :D tell me about it! After DD, well, let's just say, well... nothing much! Poor DH must have thought it was Christmas come early when I sprang on him that night! Bl00dy hormones! You'll be fine with 2 under 2... look at me, I have no nervous twitches and remain completely sane!

Thanks all :). seriously?! Lol! OMG! "Well done" of sorts (I'm sure it was fun!)... wow! lol (sorry - in shock too!) Gnargh, I want another one! So, is that going to be 2 under 2? And yes, I felt like that for DS... complete surprise, starting off by not being sure that I actually wanted to go through with it and coming to terms with the fact that my neatly planned family plan had been blown out of the water with my raging hormones! After my first pg, which ended at 8 weeks, I never get my hopes up until I'm past the 12 week mark. Just take care of yourself and the rest will take care of itself! edited by Hello.Again.Kitty on 27/03/2011 Thank heavens somebody else felt like that too. Poor DH didn't know what to do when I showed him the test and burst into tears! Poor guy is over the moon and I just couldn't be when I first found out. I know that sounds weird when we tried so hard to have DS, but I just didn't want to have another one so soon when His Little Lordship was so challenging for a while and I felt so crappy. I do feel better about it now, though, and can't wait to find out if everything's OK. I had an early scan last week the day after I found out and the doctor said I was 5 weeks, which would work with my last period. I'll be having another one when I get home probably the second week of April (unless anyone knows if I can have a private scan here in the UK?!), so fingers crossed until then. And yes, 2 under 2..... EEEEEK! :)

HUGE congrats! That's excellent news. All the very best. Remember, every pregnancy is different. No two are the same, so try not compare them and get yourself worried for nothing.

Thanks :D. It's still sinking in - it took so long to fall pregnant with DS I honestly thought it wouldn't happen and we were most definitely NOT trying!
