Just found a clip on YouTube about the Festival City Hard Rock in which the manager says he expects to be open in October 2010. Anyone know what's actually causing the delay? Need nachos!

HEE HEE. If I had to guess I would have said it was the alcohol license. That is JUST a guess since maybe they won't sell it? Hard pressed to find a HRC with no alcohol though as it would seem kind of against the whole Rock n Roll thing. I was actually hired by them to work in their marketing department. They also had hired the waiters and were ready to open! That was 1 year ago. Then POOF...it was shut down with no estimated opening. I was told I might want to look elsewhere. Glad I did or I would have been waiting forever! edited by americanfamily3 on 21/11/2011 The old Hard Rock had no alcohol at the end - their licence was linked to the Palm Hotel and when that closed down they could get no more alcohol so it was very odd being there and having a coke rather than a glass of wine or a cold beer!

It was the same for Killer prawns in Uptown Mirdiff, I think that was delayed for about 6 months.

I think its been cancelled due to licensing issues and financial issues. Not sure though but thats what I heard. It's still listed as "coming soon" on the global Hard Rock corporate site, so it hasn't yet officially been cancelled. If it's the liquor licence thing that's holding them up, you'd think it would make sense to open and start making whatever money they can while they wait for it to come through.

anyway HRC should open soon, cannot wait either! Yeah they said that when they closed the last one a few years ago now and then they said that in October last year when the billboards were up announcing opening soon!!!!!!....... hey ho - it took over 2 years for the Pan Emirates furniture shop to open after the coming soon posters went up!!!!!

From what I hear it is due to liquor license not being issued yet... same for Jamie olivers' place, it doesn't have a liquor license either but they opened already.. but don't waste your time going there, food is less than average, big HUGE dissapointment! Pretty sure Jamie is just lending his name to the place, I doubt he ever tasted any of his dishes, if he did then he should walk out in shame! anyway HRC should open soon, cannot wait either!

It's so sad......they should have stayed open on the original site. we just loved it there and the staff were fabulous. It's madness that a city like Dubai does not have a Hard Rock Cafe - come on - my kids have grown out of all their t shirts we need some more!!!!! Isn't there one at wafi? Thats Planet Hollywood. Yeah and not a patch on the Hard Rock. we got our Hard Rock fix in London but the Dubai one was special.....

closing the first hard rock on elsheikh zayed road caused real trouble to the owner, who decided to open a branch in DFC but some serious trouble over using the franchise name, a matter of trust and so.

Are there any signs advertising the opening in DFC any more? Someone posted aaaaages ago saying she held a managerial position but I can't remember her name and she hasn't posted since then.
